  1. Maybe I'll tele-conference in live via satellite, lol. I'd love to be there, Rob has put a great deal into making this a really classy event, and even if you can only stop by for a few minutes, do so and meet some of your fellow EMTBravo members. You never know who will pop in, and it will also be a great place for old friends to catch up! There also will be some EMTBravo and other door PRIZES.... PLEASE SEND ROB AN RSVP ASAP IF YOU DEFINITELY PLAN ON BEING THERE. The email is Events@EMTBravo.NET. RSVP IS NOT REQUIRED, however, help us out if you definetly know you'll be there. Oh yes, you CAN remain anonymous....just don't pretend to be someone else! Rob, thank you for all your hard work and initiative on this project!!
  2. I've been working recently on building a website for Stiloski's Automotive Corp., a longtime supporter of the EMTBravo website. John has always provided interesting photos of his many unique recoveries to post on this site, and recently was a very generous financial contributor. Anyways, I just set up the "Fleet" page, and thought you guys might find it interesting. He has quite a diverse fleet, and I've just started posting photos. I plan to eventually include a photo and information on every piece in the Stiloski's fleet. http://www.stiloskis.com/fleet.html (I'm not a fancy web designer, my pages aren't very flashy, and are very basic but I hope they get the information across easily which is what I believe most people want)
  3. I've refereshed the page a bit......plan on adding some action shots soon. Check it out: http://www.stiloskis.com/
  4. Poughkeepsie Firefighters are paid so low, they might as well be volunteers. Maybe they should consolidate all the districts in the City and Town, and then they'd at least be able to begin proper staffing.
  5. I don't know why it's caught my attention now, but why do large volunteer fire departments with multiple companies spec such vastly different apparatus? You would think that they would want to keep things as uniform as possible? And I'm not talking superficial things-diffrent colors and emblems are fine in my eyes......I'm talking about hosebed layout, tool mounting, drivers controls, etc. Also, from a maintainence standpoint, it would be a lot easier to become familiar with apparatus maintainence and maintain spare parts. There's enough you need to know to fight a fire. A learning curve such as the one described above should be uneccesary.
  6. Yeah, and I hate the fact it's "fee-bay" as well. I find it the best way though to sell my items, due to it's convience and broad reach. Also, what's up with they don't let you leave negative feedback anymore? I had two buyers bid on an item, and then pull out after winning, one citing she "wanted to shop around more". That screwed me, because I had to relist the item and wait more time for needed $$$. And, there's no way for me to note this on her feedback, I have to go through the "Unpaid Item" resolution system.

  8. I find it just a redesign. A County as sophisticated as Westchester should have more information readily available on the site, including real time information, like other departments around the country are doing. Some features that would be useful: - "Dispatchers Working" list, that names/number of those who are working the current shift, as well as a list of all the communications staff and numbers. -Live feed or working incident listing would be nice. -Page listing all the Career Fire Academy classes that have gone through. -A way to keep track of all your training through DES and be able to print it out online, email it to your cheif, etc. -A memorial page to reconize all those that we have lost. -An interactive battalion and Fire/EMS station map -An apparatus in service/out of service status page -An RSS feed of DES news and events Also, I'm still sad that there's no link to this site :-( . But I understand why.
  9. I love that ladder! You covered more ground in Europe then I thought!
  10. But, put it this way. FDNY and Yonkers, for example, serve diverse neighborhoods with basically the same engine all around. There are volunteer communities that are hydranted that have completly different engines for no explainable purpose. I understand what works best for your first due, but in today's volunteer world, "First Due" isn't really a reliable indicator to apparatus response.
  11. Thanks to a member of the EMTBravo Central Intelligence Task Force (comprised of anonymous reliable sources only), I've got some dirt on Yorktown's New Rescue 16 for all of you that may be interested. The winning bidder was Rescue 1 (PL Custom) out of New Jersey. It will be on a Spartan chasis. Delivery is expected in 2009. Here's where it gets juicy. They are keeping the current R-16, renumbering it HM-4, and keeping the cascade system so it can double as a Mask Service Unit. It's primary role will be the Northern Westchester Spill Response unit.
  12. Oh yes, I forgot to mention....as stated in a previous thread, it will be in Yorktown's new red scheme.

  15. P.S.- Doe anyone have the specs on this truck? Year/Make/Model/Pump/Tank/Aerial I can obviously see it's a Simon Duplex and LTI, but that's about it.

  17. From my EMTBravo Central Intelligence Team, I have learned that Port Chester EMS has recieved (2) Ford E-350/Braun Express ambulances in late October. I am unsure of the unit # assignments or which ambulances they will be replacing (or adding to). Hopefully, somone in the know can fill in the details, and hopefully provide some photos! Also, do they have any new features?
  18. When an incident occurs, there's often numerous official vehicles at the scene. Especially with volunteer departments, where each Chief has a vehicle in some cases. It can be very confusing. If you need to find the command post, how do you do so? Do you just know who to go looking for? I feel that THE command post should be clearly established with a flag or green light.

  20. What I was saying is that there is a majority of the PUBLIC that votes without doing any sort of research on the canidate besides what they hear from the media. I apologize if I offended you and hope I clarified my stance, as you know I have great respect for you.
  21. This color scheme would work great for an Incident Commander vehicle for Fairview Or Hartsdale!!! Matches the apparartus scheme of FFD and HFD nicely! (Actual vehicle shown is a 2008 Ford F-350 4x4 Diesel assigned to an Austin-Travis County EMS District Commander- it's like a battalion chief). Photo by me.
  22. West Texas is barren dessert. This is CENTRAL TEXAS. We have many tight roads surrounded on both sides with very thick, tall brush that's been known to do damage to the front grill and headlights. Some ranck vehicles have a different type of front bumper meant for cattle and ranching.
  23. FDNY probie, 33, dies after collapse In Memory Of Jamel Sears Please take a moment to sign this online condolence card which will be sent to his family and FDNY training academy.
  24. Talk about "overreacting"!!! How is this different from the Civil Defense corps of the 50's and 60's? Are you all worried about domestic security, or going after those terrorists on foreign soil? What is "Homeland Security"?? I really can't believe how ignorant some of the public can be when they watch these TV news talk shows. People really need to start doing their homework before making some of the comments I've seen here.
  25. Yeah, still stuck on the yellow and blue! Slide-out extendo bed with a TON of command, rescue, and hazmat equipment. A bunch of computers and fancy do-dads are in the cab. And a kick-ass front bumper......2 heavy duty, 200 watt siren speakers, 2 100 watt siren speakers,LED lights, and a Warn winch. Plus a needed brush guard. This replaces their Ford F-350/Frazers
