  1. Earlier in this thread, there was a discussion about TMFD's ladder being called mutual aid by various other departments. As far as I know, the Town of Mamaroneck's FAST team is now up and running, so I would think that neighboring departments would rather call for that and take a ladder from a department that may operate two truck companies.
  2. To our fellow members who celebrate Hanukkah, which begins tommorow evening, we wish you a happy, healthy, and safe holiday!!
  3. You rock, thanks!
  4. Excellent photos, can't wait to see the rest! Hopefully, you got a shot of SSU 15 operating there! Also, who was the wrecker company who got that recovery?
  5. I'm figuring by now Scarsdale VAC has moved out of their old, obsolete, cramped and dangerous old facility into their beautiful new headquarters down the street by now. My question....I know Scarsdale VAC has had the same two Wheeled Coachs for what seems like forever, especially when surrounding communities have replaced ambulances several times over. I know they struggled for funding of the new building, but are there any plans to purchase new ambulances?
  6. The Scarsdale VAC unit in that photo appears to be one of their older units....Wheeled Coach no longer and hasn't manufactured that body style in a while (the "Moduvan"). Also, the newer Wheeled Coach units have different handles for the mod doors and compartments now. Unless that older unit is the newest.
  7. Congrats to all!! FULL STORY: http://www.lohud.com/article/2008812200359

  9. A Mack CF, Well Maintained, Can Last Forever. Just look at Noroton Heights, for example: "Mack Mecca" http://www.emtbravo.lunarpages.com/SpecFea...ghts/index.html http://www.x635photos.com/thumbnails-34.html
  10. Cool, thanks for the info....I didn't know that they replaced them, I sort of messed up my question. Is the brand new one a mini-mod Wheeled Coach? Any photos by anyone?
  11. Looks like that was quite a stretch in! How close was the first due engine and truck able to get to the structure? It's hard to see from the photo, but I'm pretty sure 54 was first due, and it was out on the street....didn't see the new Ladder 28 in action...anyone here get shots? Just an example why Scarsdale needs better staffing and compensation, and a mini attack....people want to live in these huge houses that require more labor to exntiguish fires, then they should pay accordingly.
  12. Pretty cool!! I'm suprised it hasn't been mentioned on here before (and I'm sorry if it has) (Photos and information credit Code 3 Collectibles) http://www.code3.net/product/detail.asp?item=12806
  13. I believe, if memory serves correct, that Port Chester Fire Headquarters is the one that has the ladders and I can't remember the street name. This facility has always seemed very cramped in the apparatus bay to me. What apparatus is squeezed in there? Is there any talk of renovations or a new fire headquarters for Port Chester??

  15. Found this interesting tidbit in a chain email I got.......it's true.
  16. Wouldn't it be cheaper and easier to just build a new fire headquarters? Then again, I guess land is scarce in Port Chester for that type of project.
  17. I caught it, but it wasn't nearly as in-depth as I hoped. The way the program portrayed it though, this product has a lot of potential. It referred to the product not being cheap, but I can certainly see the value in certain scenarios.

  19. Finally, someone's developed a stairchair with an O2 mount!!! http://www.monstermedic.com/Products/StairCare.aspx
  20. With money from the 2007-2008 Capital Budget, Yonkers Fire Department has the following apparatus on order: 2 ALF pumpers due in March from the previous contract New contract: Smeal won all 3 bids by a large margin. Pierce and ALF bid. Seagrave and Rosenbauer were at the pre-bid conference, but did not bid. So, on order from Smeal on SPARTAN chasis are 1 Smeal pumper, 1 Smeal Rescue Pumper, and 1 Smeal Rearmount with fixed waterway. I think all of Yonkers current rearmount trucks (70,72,73,74) are all Smeal. The 1998-ish Engines that were replaced by the ALF's were mostly Smeal. Interesting change and news for Yonkers. Both the Spartan chasis and fixed waterway are going to be firsts, I believe.
  21. If I may ask, what's going to happen to the old MA-11? It sure was a unique rig.
  22. Back to the original topic....got several tips that a KME or Ferrara Tower Ladder, possibly demo or stock units, are in the works. Won't be purchased until the new firehouse is complete.
  23. I still love the old, lightweight Ferno aluminum stairchairs as well. I hate the heavy, feature laden ones but now they seem to be a standard. The duffel bag works great- except when there's only two of you, the patient is obese, the stairs are tight, and the patient has a personal bag on their lap.
  24. So, is Ladder 21 being replaced, or is VMFD going down to one ladder (that monster Sutphen tiller)?
