  1. I really love the tool drawers....takes advantage of typically wasted void space in the wheelwells....also, it makes it easier to see if a tool is missing. Never seen something like this before.
  2. Happy Birthday Barry!
  3. All he really wants is foam pumper for NRFD.
  4. Just a reminder- repeats today (MONDAY FEB 23rd) on NAT GEO @ 111AM EST
  5. I'm curious to know how automotive extrication responsiblities fell upon many PD's in Westchester up until the late 90's? Many muncipalites, such as Westchester County PD (first Hurst tool in the county), Bedford PD, Greenburgh PD, and Yonkers PD were the primary extrication agencies in their areas......in some cases, the FD's didn't even carry a set of tools. I remember doing a pin job on the Saw Mill River Parkway at Executive Blvd. in 1997. Westchester County ESU and Rob Barber showed up with the tool, and Tac One EMT's Frank Califano and Dan Shultz assisted with the extrication while my medic unit treated the patient. No FD whatsoever. As we know, things and roles evolved, as did the equipment required. Fire Departments in most cases do pin jobs, and in some cities ESU as well. But, how was it decided that the "Jaws Of Life" would be a PD thing? Who assisted the PD with the tool (which required 2 people to hold) Also, when a lot of these PD's transitioned over to FD's handling pins, a lot of knowledge and experience was lost. Are there still any "old school" Police Officers out there who are very proficient in extrication?
  6. Another great job....looking foward to the Dutchess list....Thanks Mike!
  7. From a Texas Firefighter's perspective, KEEP IT! It's almost standard on any apparatus with water down here. The main purpose is that it's rapidly deployable (and stowable) to chase grass fires. It can also flow CAFS for the grass fires.
  8. Is there going to be a new entrance?
  9. Thanks for sharing the great photos. It goes to reinforce that Empress is one of the EMS leaders in the Hudson Valley, and they have a very dedicated employee base. Although many of grumble, many of us know how great it was to our careers to have worked there. The current generation has really kicked it up a notch, and the photos show it! I still remember the days of the County Fair where a certain x129k and x307 set up a lighting system on the EMS golf cart for the County Fair using lifepak batteries, lol!
  10. NICE SHOTS, Art! Excuse my ignorance, but is that the NEW ER bay at WPHC???
  11. Here's an updated photo, courtesy of Joe Pinto. Thanks Joe!
  12. WHEW! When I woke up this morning at 3AM to work on the site, my tired eyes read "EMTBravo Posting Complaint". The stress lasted for about a minute until I opened the thread and found the humor! Thanks for the laugh, it was needed!

  16. I see your point, However, the kids at Columbine and the guy at Virginia Tech, they had no training and did major damage. We shouldn't punish those who want to do right because of the 0.0000001 percent chance one might do wrong. And, the same thing could be said for adult SWAT members, who have also used their training to hurt people. As pointed out, I don't think that this excercise is taught from a typical "SWAT" curriculum. Rather, I think these excercises are designed to build teamwork and leadership, and keep explorer post activities exciting. Great photos, and great job, guys! I love to see an active explorer post such as yours!

  21. I must say, just from what I've seen on this forum, I think for the most part there is a TON of camaraderie in Dutchess County's emergency services community. We've had a strong surge of members from Dutchess over the past year, whether they work, volunteer, or live there, and I can truly see the enthusiasm they have for the work that they do. They're always willing to share and contribute here, and have really livened up this forum in many respects. I'm not knocking other countys in the area, but there are so many rifts and bitterness in some places, that it becomes visible here. The guys (and gals) from Dutchess seemingly want to do their job, be good at what they do, and have fun in between-and there doesn't seem to be many barriers between departments. I've also got to give a special shout-out to Photounit. Bill's sharing of his AWESOME photos on here is really an honor. With each set of photos, he seems to top himself, time after time. I, along with many other members, truly value his continued contributions and support of this forum with his photos and accompanying stories. We're very lucky to have so many top notch photographers on this forum, along with all the other members. who submit extrodinary photos. But I digress...
  22. It is sold at a variety of hunting stores. Many people in Texas who hunt, besides their home, own their own land in the country specifically for hunting. I'm told these trucks are used on those prooerties, as well as down to Mexico and South America. There is a "Bowhunters" edition, but I couldn't get a good shot of it.
  23. Agreed, and I apologize. Sometimes some issues just get under my skin, and I don't know when to stop typing. Let's just enjoy the list....however, PLEASE show some appreciaton to your EMTBravo staff members!(not me, because all I do is the IT, long term development, and financial end of things now- the staffers are on the front line to help you the member
