  1. Austin-Travis County, TX EMS took delivery of this 2009 Dodge Sprinter/Wheeled Coach Type II. Two more are expected. They are expected to be utilized for numerous large special events held in Austin each year, including UT Football Games, Austin City Limits Music Festival, South By Southwest, and a host of other events. These are the first vehicle of their kind to be delivered to this agency. Photo taken this afternoon by me. They also recieved seven International 4900/Wheeled Coach Type IIII's on Friday, one of which is equipped with a stretcher lift for bariatric patients.

  5. I'd like to express my condolences to Yorktown Heights Fire Chief Martin Mcgannon (2351,2,3 numerous times) on the loss of his father. Martin Jr. is one of the most outstanding, kind and giving persons I've ever known, and his father is now looking down on him, and should be very proud of the son he raised. His father served his country in the Navy, and served 21 years in the NYPD, retiring as a Detective. Again, much like his father, Martin Jr. proudly makes Yorktown a very safe place to serve as a firefighter as well as to live, and through Matrin, his father's legacy of dedication to his community lives on. Condolences to Martin Jr, and the entire Mcgannon family, I am sad I cannot attend the services, but I will be thinking about you. Seth G. This thread will serve as an online condolence card. Please post yoour comments, and it will be sent to the family.
  6. We have an official airdate for the premiere of Season 2! Meanwhile, there's a rerun on the National Geographic Channel tonight at 9PM EST. (Sat April 25th)
  7. Two new episodes air tonight. I think 10ish EST on Speed TV. According to the episode synopsis, one episode includes an "antique fire engine", and the other involves an ice storm. Should make for some interesting recoveries! Great show, if you don't watch, you're missing out on on of the best REAL reality shows out there.....no drama, the focus is on the job.

I'd like to extend my condolence to Journal News Photographer Frank Becerra Jr, and his entire family on the loss of his father on Monday. From the article, he seemed like an awesome man, newspaper legend, and an awesome artist. After reading the obit, I can see a lot of Frank Sr's wonderful traits carried on in Frank. Jr, who himself has become a artist/photographer and newspaper legend himself.. Thoughts and prayers....... OBIT: http://www.lohud.com/article/2009905270353
  9. Houston,TX FD provides intergrated EMS, including ALS ambulances, engine, and truck companies. They see a lot of fire duty, but also handle a large EMS call volume as well.

  13. I often see this guy flying during rush hour. Very cool!
  14. These phones are marketed to the elderly, and I have been involved with several 911 calls made using this device. Please, print out this message below, put it on your department letterhead and make the font bigger, and give it out to assisted living centers, senior citizen centers, etc. Just emphasize that cell phones are not evil!

  16. The past 3 posts by Chris192, xchief2x, and efdcapt115 were excellent, hit the nail on the head, and I tappreciate their posts-thanks guys for bringing a cool, level head to this situation. Although I don't do this often, I deleted all the posts that turned this thread about a firefighter who was seriously injured into a paid vs. volunteer debate or pesonally attacking each other, (with many comments deleted before they were seen by the general membership). SOME members behavior disgusted me and disgraced this forum, and some who were involved should be ashamed. As I said, read the posts by Chris192, xchief2x, and efdcapt115, and think about what they said before you hit that "Post Reply" button. Treat your fellow members with respect, and IGNORE those who try to bait you! This discussion shall be reserved for this incident, any other comment that's irrelevant or inflammatory will be not be tolerated, in this thread or any other thread..

  20. Very cool article! How does the Rockland Journal News give WAY better press to the Fire Service then it's sister Westchester edition?!?!?! FULL STORY: http://www.lohud.com/article/20090524/NEWS...ues+a+tradition
  21. The LED itself may be blue, not just the lens. The bill will most likely be passed any day now, so when this goes into service, it won't be an issue.
  22. AWESOME photos, thanks for sharing, Mark!!! Definetly a very interesting fleet! I was most suprised by the Snorkel, when seeing the title to this thread, I wondered if Waasaic had an aerial at one time. I'm assuming the (state?) facilities that the aerial was to cover are now closed? Also, where was the Aerial stored?
  23. They are tiny. We have some NABI buses down here with similar headlights. It's weird...they are bright, but at the same time they don't blind you when it passes you in the opposite direction. It's also very visible during daylight hours.
