  1. That's awesome of those bands to do. Both bands are from that area.
  2. Greenwood does quality work, and has really built their company. I actually have a good feeling that they will resurect the Maxim brand, and who knows, maybe one day on their own chasis.
  3. Interesting to see how this will play out. Wonder if they truly will be a sole source manufacturer that truly tries and recapture the essence of the brand, or just "rebadge" a cab and body, like HME's "Ahrens-Fox". Looks like the company is out of Albany.
  4. Apparently, Rescue 3 is getting a new, much needed new firehouse. I knew nothing about this. From Firenews.org PHOTO: http://www.firenews.org/misc/FDNYR3StanewUC.jpg Any other new firehouses being built?
  5. I forgot to add an important detail above, and will edit it. ALL member donations go towards server costs and keeping the website online and free. All other costs are paid for by advertiser revenue and myself
  6. I apologize for all who donated since the sytem was upgraded, and didn't get a thank you post. I manually added in all the thank you posts, SO PLEASED note that all the donation thank you topics you see aren't a flood of donations, just a trickle! I really don't know how to make the donations more transparent, other then trust. The dedicated server and associated tech infastructure costs over $280 a month. The forum license and domain name registrations are a couple hundred a year. Some of the modifications and components on this forum either were purchased or I contracted out to be customized for this forum. Also there are various other expenses, such as dedicated telephone line that I have for members who need phone support for help with the site, and independent site security evaluations. Also, my computer is mainly dedicated, spec'd and set up to run this site and when I travel, I always have a laptop with me in case something goes on with the site. There are also software costs, like Adobe Dreameaver. And when I have to dig into my personal/joint bank account with my wife in order to make up deficits, I have to pay that money back. When I was upgrading the site, I took time off from work to work on it. I have receipts for all these transactions. For 2010, I am working on reducing overhead expenes. I just have so much to do administratively with this site that I am always behind on things. Literally, this site is a full time job for me without the paycheck. IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION: I forgot to add an important detail above. ALL member donations go towards monthly server costs and keeping the website online and free. All other costs are paid for by advertiser revenue and myself
  7. Greenburgh does it all the time. Actually, the Police department provides the EMS, and is frequently down officers when they go out on EMS calls. I think this is a department issue....if his department is OK with it, then there isn't an issue. I'm sure there isn't any abuse or malicous intent in this. Especially if the department is staffed properly. The only issue I see is this is another "band aid fix" to Westchester's "Wait and Bleed" EMS system. This just continues to cover up major issues that will never be properly noticed or fixed.
  8. Incident Alert by TR54: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=34778 Among the Stiloski's equipment that responded for the recovery was Stiloski's brand new 2010 Kenworth Twin Steer/Century 1075S Rotating Boom Wrecker, Stiloski's Traffic Incident Unit (the former FDNY Rescue 2), Stiloski's payloader, Stiloski's lowboy, and Stiloski's dump trucks to haul away the debris. Photos from John Stiloski and reposted with permissision.
  9. This is a GREAT reference and insight into FDNY operations. I highly reccomend it. http://www.fire-police-ems.com/books/bf1118.shtml
  10. Thanks for feedback....it is much appreciated, and I really like hearing positive feedback especially...it's what make all the time and work on this site worthwhile for me. I really depend on members donations, especially as of late. I am working on trying to get some new advertisers, but that requires a lot of my time and effort that I just don't have enough of since the upgrade so that source of funding is not a reliable one for me but an important one too. This site costs several thousand dollars a year to run, and often times I make up deficits with my own money. I am always chasing funding, because if I ever have a surplus for a month, it is reinvested back into the site. Also, with the recent upgrade, I've taken time off from work to be able to work on the site. Any amount donated is greatly appreciated, and I truly appreciate all the members who regularly donate to this site. It really, really helps.

  18. Ardsley will be going out to bid soon for a new Quint to replace the 1988 Hahn/LTI 75' RM 1250GPM/400 Ladder 50 (formerly Quint 1). I believe they are looking to upgrade to a 100' RM stick, and a lot of manufacturers will be throwing their hats into the ring, especially some that are willing to take some hits to gain edge in the Westchester market. Can't wait to see who wins the bid, if it is approved by the village board.
  19. The bid has been awarded to Smeal Fire Appararatus for a 100' RM aerial Quint w/ 2000 GPM pump on a Spartan chasis. Delivery is expected January of 2011. Thanks to AFD-PM for the info.

  23. When people get demoted, I assume they get a pay cut too? Can they do that? Also, when they get promoted again, are they entitled to retro pay?
