He was a Yonkers resident as well They've arrested a suspect. There's justice possible, but it will NEVER heal the loss. http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/bronx/explosion-rocks-bronx-home-cops-suspect-drug-lab-article-1.2808271http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/bronx/explosion-rocks-bronx-home-cops-suspect-drug-lab-article-1.2808271 I'm surprised it wasn't a meth lab when the reports were coming in. I'm figuring they used BBQ style propane cylinders to run the plant warmers. I hope, in the end, we all learn from this tragedy. RIP

Horrible news. RIP.

North White Plains FD recently refurbished their air and light trailer. This trailer is capable of filling an unlimited amount of SCBA bottles self-sufficiently, has a light tower for scene lighting, and electrical generation capabilities. It can be towed by Rescue 33, Utility 147, or Car 2322.

These SAFER grants always concern me. This one is only good for 2 years, what if they lose funding after that? Most of the time when the grant is awarded officials say that plans will be in place to sustain funding by the municipalities, but these plans usually never come to fruition and then you hear about people losing jobs. And how would they hire? An existing list? NY only gives the Firefighter exam only once every 4 years that locals can tag on. So, would they have to hire on provisionally?

It seems Con Ed (gas) is the most requested resource by FD's today. Numerous IC's request Con Ed "expedite" fairly routinely. Which, if the fire department that responded to that scene code 3 and requesting Con Ed forthwith, then it must be the same level of emergency. So, if an IC is requesting Con Ed on a rush, then shouldn't they be equipped to respond Code 3 as well, or at least a specific unit that could provide the urgent temporary mitigation needed? Please know that I think we go "Code 3" way too often in this business. Or should specific emergency responders be specially trained and equipped to make a temporary intervention? Side note: I've noticed all red Con Ed step vans labeled "Emergency" in the area recently, that have some added equipment. I know they've been in Manhattan forever, but are they have these spec'd units in Westchester now?

When I lived in Texas, I had a firepit in my backyard. One of those ones you buy at Lowes and keeps it contained with a screen. A nice feature to sit around on a cool evening....essentially a campfire. Now, in NY and maybe I'm just recently noticing it, but there are lots of calls for "open burns" and "unattended burns". I also hear a lot of knocking them down with cans. What does code say on having a backyard firepit, and how does it differ from a grill or a fireplace? I do understand the part where people who don't know what it is and just see flames, or people burning cheap stuff creating a smoke and odor condition.

Oh, I was just testing that skin and didn't mean for it to be live. I apologize, it's been removed now. Fresh Orange is the theme of EMTBravoWest.com

This site has been unchanged since the upgrade several months ago? Are you referring to this site, or EMTBravoWest, which just changed yesterday?
