GREAT SHOTS!! I love how, repeatedly, in photos and on scene of Yonkers fires they often have their aerials close to the building and up, despite the obstacles that the city presents. Great job by the apparatus operator!!

Thanks for the info regarding dispatch. I may be a little out of it-when did they move from Maspeth? And are the EMT's in title only?? Also, this quote from 1010WINS...can anyone clarify? Sad story, sad for the family and the dispatcher, could happen to anyone anywhere.

Saw and was wondering the same thing. I photographed this Tanker in 2005: http://www.x635photos.com/displayimage-76-38.html I know they recently took delivery of a new E-One engine, maybe that replaced this? Does their district still need a tanker?

I think that is Mount Kisco's old ladder as discussed here working at a recent structure fire in it's new home in New Fairfield, CT: http://www.gowansknight.com/New%20Fairfield%20Page.htm

Who dispatches FDNY*EMS nowadays and from where?

Great photos Mark, and an awesome tanker that looks very well spec'd to serve Millbrook.

Thank you for that positive and encouraging feedback regarding this forum. I don't get much positive feedback so openly, and I really appreciate your kind and understanding words. Also, if it wasn't for the AWESOME staff on this forum, I don't think I would be able to tolerate doing all the day to day stuff that they handle. I also agree and am happy to see that other members notice that this forum is growing professionally, and we are attracting and retaining some very knowlegeable, respectful, and great members. I'm glad that the rep system can reconize that. I also appreciate the fact you realize the cost of running this site....it is a monthly struglle for me to pay the bills. If I had more time, I could maintain more advertisers, but what I really depend on is donations. The whole plane incident and working fire at this guy's home was unreal for me. I am just so proud to be involved with many of the agencies that responded. It is very traumatizing that this isolated incident caused by a psychopath could happen in an office building I pass by numerous times each week. GPDExplorer, thank you for making this thread to reconize this outstanding member.

It's easier to get to both sides of the pump panel with a top mount. Also, it keeps you away from the hose connections. And, on narrow roads, muddy roads, steep roads, etc, it keeps you out of that. With a Pierce PUC I just photographed, I noticed a difference between the original Pierce PUC demo. It is actually a top-side mount pumper Getting up and down really isn't an issue, it's not any different from getting up and down from the hose bed or getting out of a really high Pierce Arrow XT cab. It puts the operator out of harms way. And this department uses a headset to communicate. And, intially, you don,t even have to access the pump panel to charge some lines. As far as wheelbase, Austin FD uses them almost exclusively with their engines, and they manage to get them anywhere.

Still in the reasearch and development phase.

I was thinking the same thing and no tandem axle.....Sound Beach has some tight streets. However, they have an excellent rescue team and carry a lot of advanced equipment....I would think the wheelbase is no longer then their ladder truck? Can't wait to see the compartment shots. Thanks for the spy photo.

This thread is about PARADE LOCATIONS AND DATES FOR 2010, NOT FOR DISCUSSION OF THE PARADE CONCEPT, which this may be likely to turn into. Any comment not related to a parade location or time will be deleted, and can be re-hashed on another thread if anyone feels like starting THAT annual discussion again. Please be sure to post as many details as you can and possibly a link to your parade or any other event so we (or you) can add it to our events calendar.

It's gotten smaller from what I heard in past years, but the ads seem to make it as getting bigger...I know a few years ago...apparatus was on the arena floor...I would imagine that Ferrara, Crimson, and Wheeled Coach will have a large presence... Too bad they don't do training, or make it more like a muster flea market....since a lot of the vendors you can get stuff off the interenet now, and smaller vendors can't afford the fees.

Are you talking about the Cessna that flew into a building in TAMPA, Florida in 2002? If so, that was a suicide by a teenager and NOT terrorism. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2002_Tampa_plane_crash

I am VERY shaken up by this for a number of reasons on a variety of levels. Very similar to 9/11 (on a much smaller scale, but living/working in NY during 9/11 and Austin during this). This occured only a few miles from my house, in an area where my wife and I frequently dine and shop. INCIDENT ALERT: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=35840 Local newspaper coverage and photos, witness accounts, etc: http://www.statesman.com/ That's about all I can say right now.

Very interesting article by one of our own forum members. I also love the way it was written. http://www.fireengineering.com/index/articles/display/59593/articles/fire-engineering/volume-150/issue-3/features/the-burning-bush.html

Negative. I was browsing through the Fire Engineering archives, typed in Hartsdale to see what would come up, and found that article.
-
If enough members feel strongly enough about it, I may be able to set it up to see who repped you. Please give me input on this thread and I will make a decision with the staff. Negative reputation points are gone, I just didn't see the value of them.

LOOKS GREAT, thanks for the spy shots Batt2!! Can't wait to see Joe Pinto's shot as well (hint) The type of Battalion vehicle Yonkers is now going to is also becoming the standard Battalion chief vehicle in Texas as well, with the demise of the Excursion. Here's a similar Battalion vehicle down here, got delivered about a year ago (scroll down on page) http://www.emtbravo.com/NewDeliveries/rrfde1.html
