What do Transcare and ALF have in common? They both are owned by Patriarch Partners and Lynn Tillson, a company that specializes in turning around companies that are in financial distress. Although Patriarch owns a lot of firms, I found this one particular link to both companies interesting. I noticed this when both had the same logo on their website.

RIP Officer Frey. With his death, it really changed Westchester law enforcement and made it better. Who knows how many more lives he's saved because of that?

Don't forget to add this to our events calendar: http://www.emtbravo.net/index.php?app=calendar&module=calendar&do=newevent&formtype=single

Excellent point! I too encourage all members to give a positive rep to a member who writes a good incident alert (for each IA post)

In actuality, you're compensating the volunteers, who signed up to serve their communities. One of the main reasons I hear from volunteer departments that are hurting for manpower is that they can' afford to hire to make up for their shortages. I'm sure that there are many volunteers who are offended by this bill, as it makes it appear like they do it partially for tax reasons. I understand the reasoning that they shouldn't have to pay for the service they provide, but that still doesn't make sense. This is so they can't get taxed on OTHER incentives they recieve. I lived in Hartsdale Fire District as well was enmployed there as a career firefighter and had to pay the same fire district tax as everyone else, yet I was essentially contributing back my own salary. The volunteers in the district were subject to a property tax rebate. And I was basically had no say on where my taxes went. I find that quote insulting to all volunteers. I don't know anyone that won't volunteer or complains because they have to pay taxes on the incentives, and anyone that does isn't in it for the right reasons.

The is a series on the SPEED channel callled "Dangerous Drives". It's a pretty cool show, and it features jobs that involve dangerous driving. Past episdodes have featured an Iraq convoy, Executive Protection, and Border Patrol. This past week, a new episode aired, which should be repeating in the next few days depending on local listings. It's entitled "Urban Rescues". It features an EMS crew from New Orleans and how frusterating it can be to get an ambulance through traffic, and the effect response times can have on a patient. The show also features Camden FD, and the dangers of manuvering a Seagrave Engine and Seagrave Tiller through City streets. It also points out the effects downtime at the shops can be, and all the dangers of operating such massive complicated trucks. I think they did a really good job profiling the "Dangerous Drive" it is for us getting to a scene.

I think everyone's forgetting that this is a PD unit. It will be carrying a variety of weapons and body armor, police tactical items, riot gear, crime scene equipment, and a lot of other law enforcement and WMD tools. It should also be noted that MVPD has two of these large ESU trucks, they are ex-NYPD and they have had them for several years. This is long overdue for Yonkers PD. If anyone's been following the news in Yonkers with the increasing violence, and the cuts in the police force that are impending, I don't think Yonkers PD is going to be worrying about extrications as their main priority.

Yesterday, I made a trip up to Dallas to photograph some fire apparatus (Dallas is 3 hours north of my home in Round Rock, drove over 400 miles in 12 hours in the same day to get these shots). I thank everyone involved for their help, and I have some pretty cool shots I'll be sharing over the next few days on this thread and on http://www.x635Photos.com First up is Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport Fire-Rescue Truck 25, a 2009 Pierce Velocity 105' that responds from Station 2, which is closer to the west side of the airport, towards the cargo areas. Frisco Fire Department operates this mobile command post, which I will detail in a later photo feature. It has a lot of cool elements, and Frisco FD has the largest firehouse I have ever seen in my life. Dallas Fire-Rescue has taken delivery of a batch of 2009 Spartan/Crimson engines: Frisco FD operate this Pierce Velocity as Engine 601: Dallas PD SWAT uses this 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe Police Package: Frisco FD Medic 601, 2009 International/Braun: Dallas Fire Department-Texas Task Force 2 operates this 2010 Ford F-650 with a trailer. Another shot of Frisco's CCOM 601:

Does anyone have any info on how FF Kanych is doing?

All of Austin's Battalion Chiefs (1,2,3,4,5,6(Spec Ops),7 and Safety have recieved or will be recieving these new 2009 Ford F-350 4x4 Incident Command Vehicles. All lettering and outfitting done in house by the City Of Austin Radio Shop.
-
I believe there's some sort of time/mileage formula they use. But generally for consistency reasons all 7 Battalions are replaced at or around the same time.

Looks awesome so far!! I really like the Spartan Furion chasis, really fills the gap between custom and commercial chasis. Thanks again for sharing!

So, the members of Buchanan FD pay for the truck out of their own pockets? If they do, I'm assuming the money comes from fundraisers. Also, didnt they get an AFG grant for this too? Can't wait to see the pics!

This kind of structure reminds me of the 3rd alarm Greenville has on 12-19-2006 (although that house was well involved in the attic before arrivala) PHOTOS: http://www.x635photos.com/thumbnails-100.html Great job by the truck companies. Had TL-15 been there, it would have been perfectly positioned. But these departments work very well together and did an awesome job. Ladder 4, like Yonkers FD, is very agressive with the placement of their aerials. When I was training in Hartsdale, we took the TL-15 to Charolette Pl and some of the other difficult locations within the district and discussed positioning. From looking at the ph oto, and this is assuming TL-15 isn't there before L-4 setup, TL-15 could of came to the back of L-4, turned to left so the midmount was aiming towards the house. Greenville's L-4 is only 75', Hartsdale's is 95'. It could have parelled Greenville's stick and go further past it's tip. Fire also doesn't stick around very long when TL-15 is flowing, and niether does anything in the way of its flow. And if it could safely be done, TL-15 carries a chainsaw to get trees out of the way. (or those of us who went to the MacWhirter school of tree trimming safely on the fireground) Also, I know TL-15 has to take a seperate route in due to the incline of the street where it meets E Hartsdale Ave if I remember correctly. These are my opinions only, and based on my time at Hartsdale. Also makes me kinda sad that I'll never be able to work on TL-15 again....I loved that truck and all it could do with the right positioning. BTW, great photos, George! But don't you still have the DSLR?

Another couple of shots of TL-15 in action. All photos © and by me. And from http://www.x635Photos.com

Not to mention having to place the pads too before you lower the jacks and outriggers....

He had a strong Republican contender, Bill Pohlman, who was a friend of mine and came very close to defeating Feiner. Unfortunetly, Bill was working one one of the top floors of the WTC on 9/11 and did not survive. I bet he would have defeated Feiner the next time. He was also an Ardsley Volunteer firefighter.
