This was published in a major news publication that a lot of taxpaying residents will see. On here, it may give a chance for those who might have miss this to read it. We routinely post links to local and other news stories. There was nothing malicous about it. From what I read from the state audit, it seems like things were done that people should have known better. I'm glad corrections will be made to the operations, but these days FD's need to be especially accountable. This is not a knock to Brewster Fire Department at all. However, the Fire District should know better and seemingly overlooked some very basic items that shouldn't even show up in an audit. Unfortuneately, Brewster is a great department when it comes down to fire and EMS operations, but the audit doesn't look at that part, and neither will the taxpayers who read this article. Hopefully, other districts will start cleaning up their acts before they get audited as wll.

Just out of curiousity, was the rescue ever used as an ambulance?
-
I'm suprised it took so long for FDNY to get a modern fireboat of this caliber, and am excited it is almost done! FULL ARTICLE: http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/a...41&id=65446 FIREBOAT SITE: http://nycfireboat.com/

Awesome information. Was always curious about that. Does the same go for municpalities that self insure their vehicles?

Awesome! Very nice tribute by YFD R1! I hope citizens (and others) see that and are reminded of the sacrifice he made as well as all the other Yonkers firefighter. Thanks for the photo, Joe!

Ferrara needs more space to deal with the stainless steel alone, especially if they are not going to contract out for the stainless steel cab. They are currently adding more testing equipment to their facility, and there is talk of expansion but not in LA. They turn over orders pretty quickly, but that's primarily because they work with aluminum.

Well, maybe the concept isn't but the product from Lifeline is. And Braun is currently making ambulances on the Spartan Furion chasis too. Several going to Miami-Dade.

Apparently, there is a top secret prototype from someone who works at Ferrara and, although a "drawing" supposedly has been released, that was the concept and is not the official one. Also, ALF has been working to complete all ALF aerials. I have a friend who also visited that plant recently was told the RUMOR is that FDNY and Ferrara have visited the facility. It's also been said that there are several venture capitalists that are waiting to back Ferrara with cash. Don't know if the three are related or any further, but it could add up. Ferrara is going to need to seriously expand to build this new chasis, body, and aerial, plus the rescues and possible future new engines, and they will need a lot of cash and a stronger northeast service presence Guess it's just speculation at this point, but I think something will be announced at FDIC in a few weeks.

OK, here's an idea and I'd like feedback. What if I suspended the negative point system until such time in which I could put a system in place like a person leaving the negative reps has to leave a note and members can see who negative repped them? Please note this is not a feature in the current system and I would have to custom design it specifically for this system. Positive reps will remain the same for now.

When I started at Empress as a new EMT in 1997, we had like 3 weeks of classroom time and training everything from EVOC to stairchair and doing some ridetime, and afterwards you had to ride with an FTO for a bit. At the time, you had to start off doing transports, at three months you could bid to work a "Tac" bus (Yonkers 911 BLS ambulance), at 6 months you could bid to work as an EMT on an ALS bus in the Yonkers system after taking an ALS interface class and riding along 1 ALS shift, and after a year you could work Mount Vernon. After a year and a half, you could work Pelham 38-A-1. I felt this system work excellent because it allowed skillsets to be developed among EMT's before they moved onto the next level. x129k was a very prominent FTO at Empress and was intergral in the program. The better you were however, the faster you progressed.

And, apparently, FDNY just added 10 more aerials to the contract, according to Ferrara: http://www.ferrarafire.com/Company/press_releases/pages/mar_22_10.html

Which makes this new concept so unique: http://www.diamondstateambulance.net/

Exactly. Popular posts and threads get the most reps. And most of the posts/members that do deserve them. However, since this thread, now some members are trying to stir the pot I see with the point system and I am in the process of banning those members from the rep system. How many is "so many" people are questioning the need for negative points? I see just as many for as not for. Also, how is this, in any way, a "pissing match"? Can you please cite examples? And don't blame us for creating a pissing match, we obviously promote working together, it's members like you who have to make it about choosing "sides" that cause "pissing matches". I am not doing this point system maliciously, I try to do what's best for the forum. I strongly like this system, and the most knowledgeable members who make quality posts, or post good IA's or photos, are the ones that are getting the positive points. This is a good way to reconize them for that.I am still evalutating the negative point system as I stated earlier as requested by several members who asked me to give it a second chance.

As the only person (for right now) who can see who's rating who for what, it's pretty legit. I mnotior the system for abuse. The negative ratings aren't being made for personal grudges, and I am actively monitoring this. The posts people are getting negative ratings for is typically by several different members for a single post and I can judge it's legit. This system was to reconize great posts, but some members wanted a negative rep added and I am currently trying that out again. Members should be able to obviously see the members with the highest ratings are making quality posts, and from what I see, the posts people are repping them for are, in fact, the quality posts they make. FFLieu, I apologize I haven't gotten back to you, but I am aware and investigating. Overall, I think the point system is working well. The system will be fine tuned as need, and there is more to come with the system as I have time to work on it and add some things. I have a enhancement for the reputation system that will allow for members to see who repped them, but I'm still working on getting some of the bugs out and considering policy for who can see what when. If anyone has any issue with their rating, please feel free to email me at seth@emtbravo.com ,I will look into it and have a staff member or member(s) of this site make a judgement (on an anonymous basis). Can you elaborate on someone "getting even with you"? This is the first I'm hearing of this, and looking at your rep history, it doesn't appear anyone is trying to "get even" with you. Also, I need to how you feel this is a popularity contest? How?
