Which is why we recently enacted the following policy as Jack mentioned above: When you post photos, it will allow you to put your photos in a new thread and then lock, so no cam reply, crtiicize, or disect every time someone posts photos. The photo section will be more like a gallery. We hope this move will encourage some of our photographers to return, and also some new ones to start contributing.

If NYS government does shut down, what happens to those who recieve work related pensions and medical care reimbursment from the state?

Word is that FDNY has ordered 80 GMC Sierra 2500's crew cab with the DuraMax diesel engines with 6.5 foot bed, which will be equipped with a cap and a slide-out "Extendo-Bed" for equipment and a command center. These will be assigned to Battalion Chiefs and EMS Supervisors. I don't know when delivery will start, or who will be equipping them. Any member more knowledgable about this, please feel free to chime in.

Does Westchester County PD Communications have the resources (equipment, space, personel) for the additional workload that will be placed on the communications division if this all goes through?

AWESOME! Thanks! I miss seeing the newest Greenburgh DPW trucks, and really appreciate that photo! Glad to see that they are sticking with Macks too! They have quite an impressive fleet. The dump body unpainted seems to be new to them as opposed to previous deliveries with the dump body painted. Also, the plow and plow assembly seem brand new design for them. Also, I can never figure out why they only have that one halogen beacon on the truck for warning and it's never usually on........I guess halogen is best for the drivers eyes in snow.

I don't think Empress as a flycar can bill if a Mohegan or Yorktown ambulance does the transport and bills for their service. I think that's why flycar contracts are paid to the company providing them. I find it amazing that Mohegan has been able to keep up with the volume of calls they have with volunteers, and glad this will ease the burden. I just think that it's so piecemealed, with Yorktown VAC, Empress Medics, Mohegan VAC, Lake Mohegan FD, Peekskill FD, Cortlandt Medics, Yorktown PD, Westchester County PD, State PD all in the mix of providing EMS in that area. I'm sure consolidation of efforts and other costs would free up some more money for ambulance staffing. I heard Yorktown was considering this paid EMT coverage a long time ago, have they implemented it? What other VAC's supplement with paid staff?

This bill will have an economic impact, especially considering most volunteers are in the service industry (DPW, etc). And, the business taxpayer will have to pay twice. He pays taxes related to his business, and let's say one of his employees is a plumber, and he's a volunteer and goes to a fire and is gone all day. Now that business owner has to find a way to cover those customers that he had planned on that employee doing. If he can't, he's going to take a hit on the reliability of his company. What if he gets hurt on a fire scene or in an accident responding in a company vehicle? I understand this is one way of staffing in these critical economic times, but the days of the "small town" are gone sadly. As mentioned, is this going to affect the volunteer's employment? If the employer knows the person volunteers, are they going to hire them? I guess this will be similar to military service leave... Take it from me, NYS Employment laws protect the employer, NOT the employee.
