  1. The body seems to have taken a hit, as did the powertrain and frame, but the cab and pump panel seem OK from that one angle. I'm sure someone with the facts can fill us in on the damage. HME uses stainless steel, or was this aluminum? Twin Lights could probaly do a lot of the repair and probaly will, but I don't know if they'll fabricate a new body.
  2. Yesterday, I had the oppurtunity to attend the Firehouse Central/EMS World/Enforcement Expo in Dallas. It was a really good idea combining all three events, seemed to work very well. Some really neat products out there, and it's been a while since I've been to a trade show. It was also nice because all the attendees were in the field, and it really wasn't anything like Baltimore or Harrisburgh, etc. I know many of you have been to trade shows this summer and probaly have seen this all already. I also made a couple of stops along the way. Depending on how Madeleine wants to behave today, I'll try and get some photos posted in this thread at different times throughout the day, so STAY TUNED TO THIS THREAD for more photos. I'll merge all photos into this post once I am done posting/ First up, stop at Dallas Fort Worth Airport Station 5 for a visit and to take a couple of photos. DFW Fire-Rescue not only provides ARFF protection, but all structural related incidents, rescue, etc. DFW is gigantic and is a city within itself: Engine 53, 2009 Pierce Velocity PUC. A duplicate unit for Engine 63 is currently at the Pierce dealer getting ready for delivery. Also, this engine will become a diecast model from TWH collectibles available this later this fall. Dallas PD has gone with a new paint scheme and lettering starting with this 2010 Dodge Charger Police Package: Wheeled Coach has developed this "Cool Bar", which intergrates the AC unit and emergency lighting. Pretty neat idea. Dallas Fire-Rescue has taken delivery of this Supervac Large area ventilation fan model SVU-50, which is used to ventilate large structures: More info on this: http://www.supervac.com/productdetails.asp?productid=152 Dallas PD has this rather unique light setup on the back of it's Tahoe's. New Orleans EMS will be taking delivery of ten (10) of these 2010 Ford F-450 Super Duty/Medtec's: ASAP Vehicles has this 6x6 All Terrain Vehicle outfitted for wildland fire response and EMS on display: This "extrication cart" from TNT Extrication Tools was on display, pretty neat concept: Crestline Ambulance of Canada is trying to make a big push into the US market: Dallas FD Shops has this Pirsch Tiller out sunbathing: Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) EMS Trauma 1 (have more details shots I will share in a seperate thread later) Braun's massive "Patriot" ambulance concept, which combines a fire suppresion system, automotive extrication equipment, and an ambulance onto a Spartan chasis. Too much in one if you ask me for an ambulance: "Miller Coach" has made a return to the ambulance market with this 2010 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Type II: Ford and Spartan had this 2010 Ford Transit Connect on display as a non-emergency transport ambulance (more in a later thread): Dallas Fire-Rescue Hazmat Battalion: Dallas FD Staff/Admin Chief are assigned Ford Escapes: My favorite kind of stretcher, I thought they were discontinued. These were very popular in California. Also, UMDNJ I believe used them, they are great for tight urban buildings. Westlake, TX is set to take delivery of this 2010 Ford F-450/Wheeled Coach The US Marshall's Service has this GIGANTIC Incident Response Vehicle on a Kenworth T-800 chasis. This was the best shot I could get, it was a crowded area. And the US Marshall's have some serious equipment! Sorry for the lousy shot, you can kind of make it out in the background. Demers Ambulances "Enhanced" Ford Econoline grill: Inside the Demers Dodge Sprinter Type II Van (this one was built for Acadian EMS) One of Dallas FD's ladders they are in the process of disposing of: Another shot of DFW Engine 53: EMS "Vending Machine" Dallas Fire Rescue Haz Mat 3 Spartan/SVI Lights, Lights, and MORE lights! Dallas FD USAR Battalion Car 812 2009 Chevrolet Suburban Parkland Hospital ER bay, doesn't look much different then when JFK was brought there after being shot. And, yes, this is where the Parkland Burn Forumula comes from.. Dallas Fire Rescue HazMat Support 3 2010 Ford F-650 From the National EMS Museum. And the new "Dallas Style" bumper....found on all new Engine and Truck deliveries.....
  3. (See photo below) This explains it better then I can: http://www.braunambulances.com/products/products-detail.php?cart=34169545403439&n=home&sku=patriot I think it may just be a concept right now, but intergrate into a rescue truck with a ramp, and be self powered with remote control. This allows it to get close to a scene that the rescue can't, and also have the tools right at your fingertips. I wish I got more information. It's actually the same as the Dodge Sprinter and the Freightliner Sprinters. These (Mercedes) are used commonly throughout Europe for ambulances. My thoughts are when Chrysler had the meltdown, all the companies that broke off took the Sprinter van and put their nameplate on it. They've have Merceds engines in them for a while. From my understanding, and BNechis can correct me, Miller was a top of the line ambulance at the time. They used Cadillacs. I guess this is the modern version My pleasure, I'm glad you liked them as I had fun taking them for you guys. If you or anyone else has any questions feel free to ask! Thanks!!
  4. That memorial is beautiful. Thoughts and prayers are with the Joyce Family, YFD & Rescue Co. 1, and Yonkers FD. I'm glad his memory is being kept alive with the benefit next weekend...what a great cause.

  6. Members, (Memorial Benefit Information Included In This Message) It's been one year since Yonkers Firefighter Patrick Joyce took a higher calling. This should serve to remind our members again that, you can be in one of the best fire departments in the nation, with the best equipment and plenty of manpower, and still be very vunerable to the evils of our job. FF Joyce was a man who loved firefighting, and loved his family. His death was during active duty firefighting, while trying to rescue others, and he sacrificed his life for those people that could and were believed to have been in there, but weren't. In the course of that, Yonkers lost a firefighter from the premier company in Yonkers, Rescue 1. YFD lost a brother. And most importantly, the Joyces lost a husband, father, brother, and son. There is a benefit for the Patrick Joyce Memorial Fund ****next Sunday, October 10th from 2PM to 12AM**** at Social at Dunwoodie Golf Course. Celebrate Pat's Life the way in which he loved to celebrate, drinking good wine with good food in good company! Scheduled To Perform Are Performances By Screaming Brocolli, The Benjamins, 27 West, Eileen Fogarty Band, Jameson's Revenge & More! All proceeds will go to the Patrick Joyce Memorial Fund, which supports the Ronald McDonald House of NY and the Tree House program at the Bereavement Center of Westchester. ***For more information, visit the Pat Joyce website at the link below*** http://www.patjoyce.org/benefit.html Tickets can be purchased online at the website above. And Pat also has a Facebook page dedicated to his memory: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?v=wall&viewas=0&gid=148169706563 We ask that you forward this email to anyone who might be interested in attending this benefit. -Seth Granville Founder and CEO-Director Of Development, EMTBravo EMAIL: seth@emtbravo.com

  8. Austin-Travis County Starflight 1 N392TC 2006 Eurocopter EC 145 Stationed at Brackenridge ER, Level 1 Trauma Center (pad on top, quarters below), which is downtown near the University Of Texas Longhorns Football stadium 3rd helicopter on order, 2nd helicopter base will be opening at location to be determuined They provide police, fire, EMS, and rescue services. Check out their VERY cool website: http://starflightrescue.com/
  9. Bump for Sunday.
  10. It's a muncipally operated program (Travis County). The County provides the financing, Austin-Travis County EMS provides the management and staff. And interesting fact, their medical director, who is now a doctor, was a Paramedic in Westchester who may have even worked with Chris192 in a bus.(thanks x307). They replace them every few years more to keep up with the latest aviation rescue technology. The program is growing, the second helicopter will be staffed and have a dedicated base, the third on order will be a spare but can be staffed immediately if needed. It's currently being considered to staff the third helicopter 24/7 and order a 4th for a spare. There are a lot of corporate medical aviation EMS companies in Texas due to it's size, but they would NEVER go with a private company, because of the growing concerns of profit over safety, and they do a large scope of things besides just EMS. They were doing swiftwater rescues a couple of weeks ago, and this morning they assisted with a perp search until the PD helicopter could get there. They also have every gadget a helicopter can have, and also have a ground support unit (F-350's) for each helicopter that responds with them.
  11. Ridiculous! http://completelylegal.lohudblogs.com/2010/09/16/teen-offered-7-years-in-prison-for-wreck-that-hurt-irvington-cop/ 7 years? Officer Osso is going to be dealing with this kid's actions for the rest of his life. Prosecute him on every charge they can find in NY and CT! And what about early release? Doesn't say that this kid might get out before 7 years. It may have been an impulsive action, but he chose to flee the police and lost....in the meantime nearly killed an officer. What is wrong with the DA's office?
  12. Does anyone have any tips on taking photos at a fire trade show indoors? I know about crowds and postioning, etc. I'm talking about lenes, filters, setting, any techniques that you have found helpful. Also, I know I can't use a flash because of the reflective striping on apparatus. Thanks!
  13. Thanks again Eli and FJB, it worked well, lighting was great inside the exhibit hall. My only problem was the people getting in the way....I've got to find an "in" next year so I can go in and snap photos before they let in the masses... My photos are posted in the "All Other Photos" section....let me know what you think....
  14. I wonder what would happen if this kid slammed into a D.A.'s car while driving home? And the D.A. was critically injured and had/has to go through what Officer Osso did and is? I hope the PBA organizes a protest of this, even if it's a done deal just to show how lenient the DA's office is. I guess in Westchester you can committ several serious felonies including assault on a police officer and go to jail for 7 years, only to come out more of a criminal then when he went in. 95% chance this kid goes back to jail after being released. He's not going to be "corrected". This kid had a lot of time to think about his actions. And will have a lot of time in jail to train to be a real criminal, especially since he didn't get any real time for his actions, and he will probaly be popular for what he did to a police officer. And when he gets out in 7 years, Officer Osso is going to have to live with this kid's actions and the pain he will have for the rest of his life. He needs to be kept away from society, because now he's a danger to society. The only thing he should be doing is mowing Officer Osso's lawn and shoveling his driveway in shackles.
  15. And it's official, I guess.... http://www.lohud.com/article/20100930/NEWS02/9300360/Ossining-town-picks-Westchester-for-police-merger
  16. These large area ventilation fans are becoming increasingly popular with larger urban departments around the country, such as Dallas, Fort Worth, Houston, and Chicago. To my knowledge, there aren't any of these units in the northeast, and I wonder why? They very quickly ventilate smoke from warehouses, schools, shopping malls, etc. http://www.supervac.com/productdetails.asp?productid=152
  17. It doesn't matter what religion you are. We have militias in this country that look like ordinary Americans that pose FAR more of a threat to us right now. Also, with our border security at both Mexico AND Canada allowing for anything and everything to be smuggled through, a photo isn't going to be a tool in a terrorist attack. If they want to do something, they will get it done. As far as harrasing photographers, if you're on sensitive property and want specific shots, it's best to get in touch with the airport and let them know what you want to photograph, and when you'll be there. I've been through airside/landside training, and the primary threat is breach of the perimiter. Cameras nowadays are in every electronic device, and come in every size. If someone wants a photo of something, chances are high they'll get it. As far as the government, they are getting carried away with "Homeland Security". They have tunnel vision bad.
  18. I assume this would replace their headquarters, which was cramped 15 years ago when I was last in it...... http://www.lohud.com/article/20100928/NEWS03/9280382/Ramapo-officials-looking-to-help-Hillcrest-build-a-new-firehouse-on-Route-45
  19. Members, As you see on the pages of the EMTBravo sites, there are several ads. 20. Thanks guys. I don't have a wide angle lens, right now only shooting with a Canon 18-55 IS and a Tamron Digital 18-250 with IS if that matters. Great everyday lenses. I believe they are macro capable.

  22. Happy 11th Birthday Jimmyboy. We all miss you and know you are looking over Michael and the rest of your sisters and family. You have inspired a lot of people and continue to make an impact through your memorial foundation, which has helped a lot of other children that were sick like you. Hope you are having fun celebrating your birthday up there and we will meet again one day. Thoughts and prayers. Thanks Gina and Jim for all that you do, and for being so strong and kind.
  23. Great shots as always, Joe! Thanks for sharing! Dobbs Ferry's Tower is awesome. Who is driving "Old Betsy" (Engine 242) from Ardsley? I know it was always the late Ted Knoesel or Ted Marsek, but I can't make out who it is?
