Looking into the issue. Any other members getting error messages or finding bugs?

I'm wondering two things: 1. Does any department in the NYC Metro area use these? 2. How do they work?
-
This is pretty cool in the fact that it applies retroactively to firefighters.... http://tfca.officialbuyersguide.net/newsletter/articles/index-v4.asp?aid=130727&issueID=22140

Ladder 26 just can't catch a break. The LODD because the brakes failed last year. One of the busiest ladder companies in Boston. Everybody knows how much a helmet means, especially in the Boston FD. And that's the traditional way of handling things between men in Boston culture. It didn't even say the PD was called, it probaly would have just been let go at that. However, we have to remember everyone carries a camera and video recorder in their phone nowadays, so we're even more accountable. However, a viewer video can't be trusted to base a news story on- as you only see the "good part", and usually not what led up to things or happened after. The way Fox 25 presented the story was not of good morales, and shouldn't have even made it to air. I bet FOX25 drove this guy to the police station to make a complaint.

This show premiered last night on Discovery. What a disgrace to the towing industry! It is also amazing Philadelphia lets these tow companies behave the way they do (predatory towing) and don't have a tow rotation list apparently. http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/wreck-chasers/ It ruins all the positve light the O'Hare Towing/Wrecked shined on the towing industry. This just enhances the viewers perception of the industry. And I know Philly gets big bucks for it, but I can not believe they let their parking authority be aired on TV...they are the most unproffesional people and given how much the people of Philadelpia hates them, why do they allow this?

Nobody cares about Fire Districts's or Commisioners except if you're in the fire service. The voter turnout to a general fire district election is probaly measly. For example, and I'm only basing this on what I knew at the time. This department had Commsioners, most of them 70+ years in age, and several were retired from the career side. No one except the Commisioners friends turned out in these races, and many have been on the board for numerous years. There hasn't really even been anyone to run against them, and I wonder who will replace them, because the general public of this district really doesn't care if there fire district taxes increase. Who's responsible if Millwood can't get out and it's Yorktown's first due, and I hope this never happens, someone perishes in a fire? Who would be responsible? I know there's drama in Millwood, who can't even get their headquarters redone because they went about it the wrong way. They should have just saved and built a firehouse. What about ISO ratings? How will this affect that, and maybe lower home insurance premiums. Yorktown is a great department and is financially strong and prudent as proven by this, but maybe there is other reasons to build this firehouse? Is this close to any large body of water where their dive team could be located? Could Yorktown VAC eventually station a ambulance there if needed? Could Yorktown use this station to place equipment that crowds the firehouse and they are running out of space? Would they have enough space to train there? Is this the primary area where they need the tanker? There has been a Millwood/Yorktown Dual Response plan in place being "negotiated" for years now. This is an example of taxpayers who don't really care what's happening, and a board of commisioners WHO DO! And look at Fairview. They have outgrown two of their firehouses to the point where they are obsolete basically, have a needed first out rescue that runs numerous calls for around 15 years now, has over 150,000 miles on it, and 60% of their district is non-taxable. When they went for bond, the voters all popped up out of nowhere to shoot this down. Even after Fairview tried everything to educate the voters why these changes are needed. What are they supposed to do? Given the laws that don't work, sometimes you HAVE to use creative funding.

More info: http://www.agustawestland.com/news/agustawestland-awarded-contract-maryland-state-police-aviation-command Has anyone heard of this company? Or is it a result of mergers? All I gotta say is support Texas and buy a Bell!!!

SPEED (and Nat Geo) are owned by Fox, who really doesn't care about anything then a quick buck. There are numerous parties involved that would all have to come to an agreement for Season 3 (networks, production ...companies, O'Hare, etc), and the ratings, and more importantly, money, has to be there. I hope it does get picked up, based on the popularity of Ice Road Truckers and similar shows but I doubt it would be O'Hare. I just don't know if it's not being marketed, or maybe O'Hare just simply doesn't want to do it anymore as it did add a lot more work for the staff having to do their job and all the time it took to film. It is a large burden on their operation, and puts a shining light on them in front of their competition, which is fierce in Chicago. O'Hare has succeeded in what they set out to do.....promote the image of the towing and recovery industry and show the dangers of the job.

It's absolutely disgusting to think of what and how this is made. But remember that "The Simpsons" episode mocking this? It's a suprising cult phenomon. http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_newsroom/20101102/bs_yblog_newsroom/the-mcrib-returns

I'm asking this because I've lived in Texas for 3+ years now and I am out of the loop.. Has this area grown in population? Does this affect ISO? Yorktown is a great department and is financially strong, but maybe there is other reasons to build this firehouse? Is this close to any large body of water where their dive team could be located? Could Yorktown VAC station a ambulance there if needed? Could Yorktown use this station to place equipment that crowds the firehouse and they are running out of space? Would they have enough space to train there? Is this the primary area where they need the tanker? Are they worried about Millwood not getting out and them becoming responsible should something that's not in writing happen? Just some thoughts and questions.

Me too! You can read about it's interesting history here: http://hfdstation6.com/history.html And it's in the 6th Ward, a very cool part of Houston: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixth_Ward,_Houston I don't know what the status of the station is, but it's in a National Register Of Historic Places neighborhood, so the facade has to stay intact somewhat.

If they were on scene, which they apparently were, a TRUE journalist wouldn't need a press release.
-
One of the point was that the media knows about these stories and chooses not to cover them. They have an excellent PIO and very extensive community outreach program, including one software system that alerts and updates the news media in real time, as well as press releases. http://www.houstontx.gov/fire/abouthfd/index.html
