Here are a couple of shots from the Scarsdale fire yesterday.
-
As far as Scarsdale's Engines go, they only had Engine 55 & 56 there. Engine 57 is down for maintenance, and Engine 54 is OOS permanently due to fatal mechanical issues. Ladder 28 was there, and several recall firefighters responded in a department utility. As far as the mutual aid on scene, Scarsdale, Hartsdale, Greenville, and Fairview have a fairly new automatic aid agreement between the districts on working fires. So, for any 10-75's in those districts, all of the departments will participate.

Here's NYS*DOT's Truck 175062, a 2017 International Workstar single rear axle with Viking-Cives plow setup and combination spreader-dump body. This truck is assigned to NYS*DOT Nassau County for plowing the Long Island Expressway (I-495) and a portion of the Northern State Parkway, amongst other state roads running through the area.

Horrible, especially that things like this can happen in modern-day America. Just saw on the news that the count of the deceased is 33, with more expected. Very sad.

Although this is a neat idea, in many agencies, NOT using lights and sirens on the highway is protocol. For one reason, it's been showed you can move just as fast without it, and it actually could slow you down. And at speeds over 55MPH, the siren can barely be heard. * *Except for when you are in the area of the area of the incident, to get through traffic and onto the scene.

This seems like it could be a good resource for a new owner, or a shared resource with a county agency. https://www.firetruckmall.com/AvailableTruck/08713/2006-Gowans-Knight-Ford-F-650-Hose-Truck

Round Rock FD, Texas Truck 7 company used to be my first due where I lived in TX. Round Rock is a fast growing suburb of Austin. They have 8 stations, and are opening two new fire stations this year, as well as just breaking ground on a comprehensive public safety training center. It is an all-career department now, but was a strong volunteer department until about 1985 (there are still two volunteer departments in the city, Jollyville and Sam Bass, whose districts encompass a MUD district). At one time, they were a large mostly Seagrave department, until Seagrave stopped selling in TX. Now, their fleet is comprised almost entirely of Pierce. This is their new 100' aluminum platform built on a Dash CF chassis. 300 gallons of water with a PUC 1500 GPM pump. The pump is a secondary feature of this truck, and runs with an Engine, both fully staffed. This truck's first due is the north Round Rock area, which encompasses 2 major hospitals, several college campuses, public and private schools, and medical facilities, numerous apartment complexes, residential developments, an outlet mall, Bass Pro shops and other major retail centers, as well as a busy portion of I-35...and that's just the part of the city that's in their first due. A lot of the structures are light weight construction. To give you an idea of how fast this area has grown, when I moved to Texas in 2008, this station had just opened with an Engine and a Tanker, and NONE of the above buildings, except for cow pastures and the residential area in which I lived. I'd like to take this oppurtunity to wish you and your family a happy and healthy Thanksgiving, and hope this will usher in a wonderful holiday season for you all. Enjoy your Turkey, and have a great holiday! Regards, Seth Granville AKA x635/EMTBravo *Please support small businesses in your community when shopping during this holiday season* Thanksgiving is America's national chow-down feast, the one occasion each year when gluttony becomes a patriotic duty. ~Michael Dresser Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow. ~Melody Beattie We often take for granted the very things that most deserve our gratitude. ~ Cynthia Ozick
