Right now, there are going to be no layoffs. The FD and City were able to come up with a temporary comprimise until the city's finances improve-and when they do things go back to the way they were. The FD did not want to lose the manpower. http://www.texas-fire.com/2011/05/contract-negotiations-stall-as-houston-firefighters-prepare-for-layoff-notices/

Will it make it to Texas under it's own power, lol?

Seems like a pretty cool scanner, especially when traveling! http://www.scannermaster.com/GRE_PSR_800_Police_Scanner_p/30-501608.htm//

I must add, that I was told by FD on scene that the Mustang's safety features worked, and the suspect was wearing a seatbelt, he probaly would have lived. Instead, justice was served via a full force blow into the steering wheel even with airbag.

Unbelievable how selfish Fox is. They aren't making money on it, and they need space to air repeats are their reasons. Like Fox isn't making millions upon millions elsewhere and just do this show as a public service, considering all the good it's done. http://www.upi.com/Entertainment_News/TV/2011/05/16/Americas-Most-Wanted-canceled/UPI-27151305559390/

I'm waiting to see if Home Patrol comes out in a second generation or a portable model. Anybody know anything about that?

So, are you defending the network s? It didn't run it's course as you said, it got cancelled by greed. At least they are honest about that. As long as their are fugitives, this show will always be relevant. Do you hope the show gets picked up by another network? I'm sure the "emotional responses" are triggered by those who can see what good the show has done, especially by the families that this show has helped.

For 2011, we have 11 Ford F-550/4x4 Wheeled Coach Customs delivered, with air ride suspension that lowers to load the patient, the new Wheeled Coach "Coolbar" AC module above the cab, and solar panels on the roof for auxillary power and reduce idling, amongst other things. So, some departments don't do washdowns, or the polictically correct term, fluid spills, anymore, we use absorbent. Question is, if that material is hazardous and we don't wash it down as to not pollute the enviroment, why do we sweep it to the side of the road? And if some departments take it with them, is it disposed properly? I see a lot of absorbent hoppers on Engines and Rescues nowadays, but no buckets for collection and removal. And I know in NY like many states thw wrecker driver is responsible for automotive situations.

I have that on my Blackberry. I'm still old school...I like to have a scanner so I have my phone available for other things. I always want to do fire scene photography, but I always miss jobs.

Rupurt Murdoch/Newscorp has all the money in the world. This is not the type of show that makes money. It's like a lot of networks....they want to churn out crap and squeeze every dime they have out of it. The show ran for 24 years, but it should have ran forever. They are a business, but businesses should give back to their community. Especially now with all the cutbacks in law enforcement. The Fox Entertainment Executive makes millions upon millions every year, along with perks and other amenties. Do you think he really cares about families that want closure, or his paycheck that gives him more money then he can even spend? Yeah, in the 90's they were cutting edge. Now, all they really have is "Glee" and the failing "American Idol", and the Sunday night animation.

I'm noticing more and more agencies that aren't using Nextel anymore. I dumped them after months of horrible customer service, and have been a happy AT&T customer. AT&T has a PTT feature, but I have no clue how it works. I miss the Nextel Direct Connect convienence, and wish they would open up the technology to other carriers.

I actually think this is a pretty good idea. When I lived in Westcheser, there were very few places close by to kayak. Where I live in Texas, there are like 20 places within 20 minutes. From the Town Of Greenburgh Email List:

A&E has a ton of crime shows, and so does the Crime And Investigation Network, but I think that channel is only available in HD. Maybe someone will pick it up for syndication. To rub salt in the wound, Fox is cancelling it, for one of the reasons given beside's it doesn't make them money, is that they need that time to air RERUNS. A lot of networks do that nowadays, but to cancel a show like AMW for that? I mean, it's such a golden timeslot [/sarcasm]. I remember when Fox cancelled it in 1996. That only lasted a month after it sparked outrage. 1,148 people have been captured because of AMW. 5 million viewers on a Saturday night. 24 seasons in the same timeslot. I understand TV is a business, but Fox makes millions upon millions. Production of this show is a drop in the bucket for them. John Walsh doesn't seem angered at the decision, he even said he "loves the network" and appreciates the chance they gave him and the show. He is shopping it around now from what I understand, and looking at other avenues as well. But, what will Fox give us in return? Some one hit wonder American Idol that flops and no one remembers because they vote out all the good people first. If COPS is next, I will be livid.

If they are closing fire companies, especially 20, would that mean layoffs? Or could it be covered by attrition? It's good to see the Commisioner stand up to the City Council's BS, though. Seems like he has the FF's back.

If we all had that pesimistic view on the enviroment, where would we be? I'm just going to spray aerosol cans into the air, the Ozone layer is screwed up anyway. All joking aside, there are many natural ways to clean up this resevoir and make it a healthy body of water. It may take some time, but in the end, it would be worth it. You not only could kayak, but I'm sure swimming, scuba diving, fishing, and other water activities would be just as handy for local residents as the bike trail. And as a water training venue for local agencies. Sure, it's drinking water, but so are a lot of other lakes recreational lakes nationwide. I know some will claim "the moneys not there", but if people really want it, grants are and can be found for this specific purpose. Also, if the County or the city of Yonkers could make money off the deal, I'm sure they'd be happy.

Wow, very sad. Hopefully this will shed some light on the issue so his death won't be in vein. There have been several 9/11 responders who have committed suicide, and I'm sure as PTSD worsens there will be more. It's sad that mental health is so overlooked.

GREAT shots! I love the bailout simulator in the bay, great idea! It's amazing how one fire district in North Castle can get so much, yet another (North White Plains) can get so little. (and dibs on the Maxim if they ever sell it. Not like I'd have the money or anything)

I saw this the other day in San Antonio. Can you really put a © on something and say no photos? (BTW, the paint over of the actual "work of art" was really there, it's not photoshopped in)
