10-75 the box, I caught that too. Is Hartsdale without a Ladder truck, or expecting TL-15 back anytime soon? Good find, Steve!
-
So, according to E-Bay (credit to firdude for the link) As for Ladder 46: So is Hartsdale operating without a ladder or expecting TL-15 back anytime soon?

Anybody who's been to the LA area probaly knows the 405. The traffic-packed major north-south artery is closing for 53 hours this weekened, for a road expansion project. This has the potential to become quite the disaster out there. And the alternate routes are bracing...... The LA Times has comprehensive coverage: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/lanow/carmageddon/

If only more departments could operate this way........ And, to note, these will be ALS-Paramedic engine companies. http://www.cleburnetimesreview.com/local/x925652552/To-the-rescue

Question: In NY, althoughit's said that it's not legal to have County FD's, alternatively, can't there be a "County Fire District". There are many fire districts in NY which cover multiple municipalities, including some that cover in and out of Westchester as regular response. Also, 60 Control is a Countywide agency (by NYS law), so is the Haz-Mat and other specialized resources they have. There are so many loopholes in NYS legislation, that I feel that it wouldn't be legislation that got in the way, it would be the members of these services who hamper any positive change, rallying until it's dead.

Absolutely horrible news to wake up to. He was a Lieutenant in the Brownwood, TX FD. Video(WARNING-GRAPHIC VIDEO): http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/26184891/vp/43682635#43682635 Full Article describing what happened: Rangers Fan Dies After Plunging 20 Feet

Regarding his rescue of firefighters in a department store fire in Rochester, NY-30 years ago. 26 firefighters were injured, but FF Hauser's lasted over 30 years, which culminated in a complete lung removal due to cancer. Amazing firefighter- they don't make them like that anymore. http://www.mcfw.com/?p=5257 http://www.13wham.com/news/local/story/McCurdys-fire-Wal

I like the idea. Unfortunetly, so will the child predators.... Maybe something like they do with CIDS they could adapt this in for opt-in residences?

Not like WCPD's Aviation unit, which has access to water everywhere given all the lakes, resevoirs, rivers, sounds, etc in Westchester. Here, everything is seriously drying up. They have been using portable ponds, if available, but this makes it much easier for the pilot to get the bucket filled. They carry this right aboard the helicopter. http://www.kxan.com/dpp/news/local/star-flight-has-new-firefighting-tool Filling from a portable pond, NOT the new device...

To note, Westchester County is 450 square miles, with a population of almost a million. Johnson County, TX is over 700 square miles, with a population of only 150,000. The property tax is 6 cents per $100 to fund the ESD, and most homes are less then $100,000, with varying property sizes. Some of the ESD firefighters are also volunteer firefighters in their hometown FD's, since they are so extremly rural. The diference in attitudes here:

I *believe* that SWS is one of the installers that actually installs the "low power" switch. In some models of lights, this can dim them significantly at night.

Does anyone have the details on this engine? Year, make, model, where it served? I met a Ferrara rep today, who stated they are about to close a deal with the City Of New York for the purchase of 100' rear mount aerial ladders. He stated they were the low bidder and due to the City's economy, they wanted to save as much money as possible on this purchase. Any truth to this? I personally don't see them going away from Seagrave, as they've made a tried-and-true product for many years.

Thanks for the info, M'Ave! I guess this cab wouldn't be comprable to the Ferrara Engines that have been in service? Here's the rest of the press release:
-
So, if Truck 1,2, or 3 goes out of service, what do those companies use? I remember years back, Stamford Fire-Rescue being in a dire situation with their ladders, if someone could refresh my memory about that...

If you guys keep criticizing based on the photos, you're going to see less and less photos being posted here.

Wasn't this truck being kept as a spare?

Some of the damage was existing, mainly from unqualified technicians diagnosing and working on the truck, causing even more problems then it began with. A lot of this stems from when Baker was going out of business and producing units that looked indentical with completly different hydrualic/electic build in every one. No schematic followed or anything. And, subsequently, a whole mesh of service centers and service technicians had nothing to go by, and a lot of uneccesary repair money was dumped into the truck, when it probaly should have been replaced or refurbished years ago by Seagrave. As for the final blow, a piece of construction equipment hit the bucket while Station 2 was undergoing renovations. Hudson Valley Fire really assisted Hartsdale by working with them and Seagrave engineers in making the repairs as cost efficient as possible. Hopefully, they were able to uppgrade the hyraulics to Aerialscope II standards. I wish they had the money to put it on a new chasis, the current one is extremly underpowered for the hills in Hartsdale. And paint it red.

Nice work as always! I really like the Sound Off Intersector, never knew it existed but a very good choice for intersection waring.

Very unique incident. It's always good to have a member on a rescue where a large body of water is trained or familiar with boats. One of the guys they interviewed sounded like he had knowledge and there was some complicated disassembly involved. Thanks for sharing this!
-
Marion (and Saulsbury) also built the bodies for the Aerialscope tower ladders for a while, too, but as a contractor for Seagrave.

As you may have noticed reading through the IA guidelines, we require firsthand, confirmed information for an Incident Alert. So, what does that meet? Firsthand Information: You heard it on a scanner, from a friend on scene who you can trust, through text from a friend you can trust Confirmed Information: CONFIRMATION OF THE INCIDENT BY THE PRIMARY AGENCY*. Example: Chief on scene confirms working fire. FD on scene reporting pin. PD on scene reporting shooting. EMS on scene confirming special circumstance. If this incident comes over a "buff pager", that alone is NOT confirmation of the incident. Responding to a reported working fire, even if confirmed by other agencies, is not a confirmed incident until the PRIMARY AGENCY confirms it as a working incident. You can get this from radio traffic, online feed, maybe a text from a friend, etc. With that said, PLEASE use only firsthand, confirmed information when posting Incident Alerts! If you don't have all the info, DON'T post! Don't post a blank IA requesting for others to PM you with info. Make sure you only post noteable incidents. Hope this helps! Our Incident Alert community thanks you! Contact site staff if you need any further assitance or have questions. Thanks! Seth G. Director Of Site Development, EMTBravo seth@emtbravo.com
