I think it's an interesting tactical move. Hopefully their existence isn't just as a "clock stopper". It states there are two Paramedics to each flycar. Are they able to split up when one goes aboard a BLS bus, or do both have to go? It would be very interesting if FDNY was to assign a Paramedic to each Engine company. I'd also like to see in the future a Community Medicine Paramedic program instituted.

City Of White Plains will be replacing Tower Ladder 6, a 2001 American LaFrance Metropolitan/Smeal 85ft rear mount tower with a 2017 Spartan/Smeal 100' mid mount tower ladder later this year.

Sorry, this is as much as I can get without subscribing.

Sadly, Avalon didn't learn anything from Edgewater. But as long as Avalon builds extreme lightweight wooden construction buildings, fires like this will be possible. This project was under construction and not occupied, and insurance probably covers it so Avalon probably doesn't care. But what would happen if it was occupied, and how much time would it take for residents to get out? On the legislative side, there should be a law banning lightweight wood in structures such as these.

I know New Rochelle has their own maintenance facility at the rear basement of Station 1, however as far as I remember, it can hold one or two trucks. I think that having a fleet maintenance "cooperative" is an excellent idea that can lower costs and decrease out of service time, but what facilities would be used?

Bump for this Saturday!

When Ladder 34 was a Quint a few years back, did it run as a single company out of the station, or how did that work?

Congrats! Very nice tribute over the air!

KME's bid is the lowest by a large margin. Maybe they lowballed it because they want the visibility and bragging rights that producing an FDNY rescue brings. I like the FDNY Engines they built, but I haven't heard any feedback....anyone of our members in FDNY using them have feedback? And one would think those would be the only three manufacturers who would be able to comply, since they are the only ones that have an cab meeting FDNY specs already in production. I like KME, but it's sad we'll probably never see a Seagrave rescue in NYC.
