  1. Does anyone know if Metro North is having their annual open house at the Croton-Harmon shops in October ?
  2. I'm wondering if anyone here works in a system that distributes Nasal Narcan to opiate addicts, or makes it available to them? Or equips BLS units with them? If so, have you seen any results lately? I think that it's a pretty good idea to distribute Nasal Narcan to addicts, especially with the potent heroin currently going around. I even think that BLS units should be able to carry it. It's kind of similar to what an epi pen is to people with severe allergies.

  7. Does anyone know of any upcoming NYS Paramedic Refresher Courses that are coming up? Apparently, since I was previously certified as a Paramedic in NYS before I moved, I can't get reciprocity from Texas, where I've been certified the past 4 years. I have to take a Paramedic Refresher to get my Medic back. Does anyone know if there is an easier way around this?
  8. Should be fixed, please advise. It wasn't intentionally removed, I just forgot to enable that setting for the "Members" group. I apologize for not responding to the PM's.

  11. It was green and yellow?
  12. "We Support Our Troops" I see this slogan on a ton of different emergency vehicles. But is it just a slogan? Or do the people actually support the troops? I'm talking about community supply drives, helping soldiers families while they are away, keeping local war monuents well-kept and relative, preferential hiring of vetrans or supporting vetrans causes, adopt a brigade, the list goes on and on with what you can do to truly "Support Our Troops". I just feel that it's just a bumper sticker like saying, for some, that may reflect just an opinion, and it shouldn't be. Yes, it's a great reminder, but actions speak louder then words.
  13. Although there's problaly more politics to meet the eye, they really equate "appreciation" with being allowed to consume alcohol after calls? The FD probaly needs a better PIO....I can't believe they made the remarks they did to the press.
  14. Yonkers FD's Water Tender ready to roll during the water emergency 8-27-12. Yonkers FD was very well prepared to tackle this major water supply issue which affects the part of the city with an extremly high fire load and very dense population.
  15. No career departments within a reasonable distance have tankers. No departments were ruled out. The departments are selected so they don't "strip down" the non-hydranted areas of Westchester. Often, the decision is left up to 60 Control, and all YFD asks for is the number of tankers they wanted. Guy, thanks for the info! What is the expected duration of this?
  16. Yonkers FD, during their evening radio test, reminded all companies to review drafting and relay pumping procedures tonight.
  17. George, I tried to call you multiple times yesteray.....I was worried....glad to hear you're OK.
  18. Do any departments put occupant protection systems as a priority or a must when spec'ing new apparatus? http://www.spartanchassis.com/er/aps/aps.asp
