  1. Brooklyn is still on Long Island. I had the chance to check out Barclays Center a few weeks ago, and it's an awesome venue. It's also nice that you can take mass transit to it. Hopefully, this will be a positive change for the Islanders from the obsolete Nassau Colliseum Here's a photo I took:

  4. I could see this being very useful to some fire departments and rescue agencies. http://news.yahoo.co...6--finance.html
  5. Wow, this is truly shocking news. I still can't believe it. I was just getting to know him. Chucky and his family are in my thoughts and prayers. RIP.
  6. Yesterday, I had the privledge of attending Bedford Hills FD's Open House/Fre Prevention Day. They put on a great event for the public where they had multiple different oppurtunities to learn about fires, how to prevent them, and what to do if there is one. They also gave tours of their newly renovated and expanded firehouse. I was also able to tour their new firehouse, which, as always with BHFD, is awesome and very well thought out.

  9. I'm curious why some FD's pay thousands of dollars to have a custom website designed and hosted, and then never update it? Or don't add information to their site and have "Under Construction" on some sections for years? It defies logic.

  11. OK, I have mixed feelings now. The second episode was kinda cheesy, but I think this show has potential. Overall, still pretty cool. I liked how they used the charged hoseline as a pole.

  13. I'm looking forward to tonights episode. Anyone here going to give it a second chance?
  14. Playand is a county park, and although it is an amusement park, it's not that different then other parks in the nation that feature many amenities. I think the key word here is "sustainability". I'd hate to see the Dragon Coaster sold...and Playland tore down for million-dollar housing. I think this is a great plan for a place that has great potential. I've always thought the Playland property was under-utilized. It will be nice to see some resturants there, and for it to become more of a modern, year 'round destination.
  15. Interesting story. FULL ARTICLE: http://www.lohud.com/article/20121016/NEWS02/310160065/Purdys-man-rescued-from-Ossining-ravine-6-hours-after-car-crash?odyssey=tab|topnews|img|Frontpage

  20. Yonkers does transfer EMS calls to Empress. Empress will also obtain the phone number to call back to EMD when the situation presents itself. Additionally, Empress uses ProQA, which is intergrated into their CAD.
  21. This afternoon, Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association held, in conjunction with the WCVFA Convention, a parade celebrating their 90th Anniversary. I managed to get some photos, they are at the following link: http://www.emtbravo..../mvfaparade.php http://www.emtbravo..../mvfaparade.php
  22. Empress EMS has used NAEMD succesfully since the mid-90's.
  23. EMD saves lives. With some of the response times in this county, pre-arrival instructions can make a critical difference in the outcome of a call. It's nice to see a progressive move like this.
