To note, Fort Worth has a PHENOMANAL, well staffed and covered EMS service: http://www.medstar911.org/ When you have a severe risk of wildland fires that are continuing to get worse, and quick response in tight areas is neccesary, it is tatical. It is also not a pickup truck, it is a Ford F-Series chasis that is similar to those used for pickup trucks. Since brush trucks are also being bought for these stations, it makes sense to combine these two vehicles.

Has anyone looked at the cost of diesel fuel lately or the comparison in maintainence costs between a Ford F-Chasis unit and a Spartan Gladiator? Or driven and operated the two extensively? And these trucks are very capable of initial attack, especially with CAFS and other units being so close by. It's not just a beancounter thing, it's a tactical thing as well. Here is the purchasing agenda approval: http://www.fortworthgov.org/council_packet/mc_review.asp?ID=18214&councildate=4/9/2013

Most importantly, what is going to happen to the Care 1 employees and the effect this is going to have on them and their families?
-
And that's exactly where we are with the issue now.....getting it to actually display on the threads.

This is proving to be a very difficult and tricky issue. I am still working on it.

From press release at EmpressEMS.com:

The Home Page, Portal, whatever you want to call the EMTBravo.com part of the site, is low on the priority list since the forums need to be working 100% internally right for that to work. Font sizes are being adjusted and so is the look.

I don't think that this type of truck will do well on the tricky streets of Greenburgh. There are places in Greenburgh where this type of truck can never replace the conventional method But, as the article mentions, it seems to be succesfully in White Plains, so who knows. So, this flu season is sure kicking off with a bang. Not only are EMS agencies busy with patients, but also busy themselves, since a lot of crew members are calling in sick, leaving them running short. The latter goes for FD's and PD's as well. Is there anyone who are taking special precatuions or actions to deal with the above?

Questions. Is an apparatus equipped with a TeleSquirt an Engine or a Truck? Would a TeleSquirt be a better option for the more rural communities wanting a Quint? Is the ladder on the device actually usable? I know there used to be a couple in the WC, Mohegan Millwood and Fairview are some that come to mind. Just curious why these departments went with Telesquirts at the time, and why they didn't continue the concept? They also seem to be popular in the Syracuse area. In fact, peterose313 reported that the City Of Syracuse just ordered several KME engines with the TeleSquirt equivelent. Does anyone know the concept behind the use of these in Syracuse?

Off the top of my head..... Lockwood, Rothschild, Steinkraus, Molina, Harbach, Ulrich, Rivera, Cutoneilli, and Harvey are some of the more senior medics. Figueroa, Valera, Rovida, Delgado, Behrens, and Nunez are some of the more senior EMT's. Plus you have everyone in Admin, like Daryn (Director Of Ops), Scott (Assistant Director Of Ops), Sheri (QA), Miriam and Michelle (Customer Service) to name a few, plus the Minervas..all of which are still very active...and the supervisors like Cekuta and Jeffries. (And all promoted from within) And Bill still has the same schedule as when you worked Medic 30/33 on Thursdays. And a ton of members have gone straight from Empress into being Doctors, PA's, Nurses, Police Officers, Firefighter, Heads of EMS systems, Airliner pilots, Dispatchers, Archery Pros, etc all across the country and world.

Exactly. There are a number of employees that have been with Empress over 10 years and over 20 years, which is very unusual for a commercial ambulance company. It shows the dedication to the company these employees have and shows that Empress values it's employees.

2003 Agusta Westland A119 Koala; N172P being sold by the Pennsylvania State Police directly via auction. Maybe we should buy it for an EMTBravo Photo unit to get photographers to the scenes quicker and provide an aerial view. We already have the helcopter pilot! http://penton.assetnation.com/index.cfm/general/LotDetail/LotNumber/PN48847-0001

As far as I know, the terms "Working Fire" and "Structure Fire" are interchangeable. I know this is a dumb topic for me to post, but is there any difference, or once was a difference?

So, I'm watching "Modern Marvels: Pocket Tools", and they feature Danbury firefighters and what they carry in their pockets of their turnout gear. And I see this tool I've never really heard about, the Ardis tool. http://ardistool.com/news.html It's made by a Danbury firefighter. Does anyone currently have this tool in their pockets? Seems to have several pretty handy uses for something that keeps in your pocket.

How connected do we need to be? I mean, really? I can see some situations where this may fit in, but I also see many dangerous drawbacks. I can imagine pedestrians getting injured and killed because they are busy with their glasses and wander into something, like traffic. And how would the glasses work while driving?
