  1. Here is the obit from Greenburgh Daily Voice:
  2. With the recent tornado in Oklahoma, many people around here think it can't happen to them. We've seen tornadoes hit our area over the past few years, with tornadoes in Hawthorne, Brooklyn, Queens, etc. A tornadoe actually hit downtown Atlanta, affecting multi story building. Does any department have a program to educate citizens about tornadoe prepardness, and what to do in case of one? And does any department have a severe weather response plan? The weather is gettiing crazier, and we are going to start responding to these events more and more. I just see no training courses about this either. If you do have a public relations campaign, or department prepardness specific to severe weather, I'd love to hear about it on this thread..

  5. Stiloski's has reached into social media and started a Facebook page, so you can keep up on all the interesting jobs his trucks and staff take care of daily, and all the work that goes on in the heavy duty truck and fire apparatus repair facility in Tarrytown. Be sure to hit "Like" if you wish! Click Here For The Facebook Page
  6. Westchester County Police Crime Scene Unit (ID # 9200) 2013 Ford F-550 I'm not positive that it's new, and I don't know who built the body. Hopefully someone will PM with details so I can post those. Maybe EVI? They built the truck that this one is replacing.
  7. I bought a ticket on behalf of all members here, and fully expect to win the Powerball drawing tommorow. I will post the ticket and our numbers tommorow. Depending on how much is won and how many people post, each member who posts "I'm in" before 9 PM tommorow (Saturday May 17th 2013) in this thread will get $150,000 (hopefully much more), with the stipulation that an additional $25,000 must be donated to the charity of your choice. Good luck to all who bought tickets!
  8. Just goes to show, yet again, you can have all the training and experience with one of the most safety conscious departments in the nation and still not be immune to the perils and tragedy of being a firefighter. He transmitted a mayday, but the enormity of the collapse barred the FAS teams from getting to him before it was too late. Rest in peace. Thoughts and prayers. 9. Are all the probies are first being assigned to Engine companies now after the academy? http://www.nyc.gov/html/fdny/html/events/2013/051713a.shtml
  10. Thanks for the solid info and background, lt411! Much appreciated!
  11. Well, I was really depending on that win! Maybe I was in Florida, who knows lol! $600 million is kind of ridiculous for one person that's not me nor anyone from this site. I was really looking forward to giving a lot of money to a lot of charities that need it. We should come up with an EMTBravo Lotto pool for these types of lottery drawings.
  12. Thoughts and prayers. From TX TF-1:
  13. Special attention to anyone who is going to Westchester Medical Center, WCDES (Fire Training Center), Westchester Community College, Westchester County Jail, Police Academy, and in the area.....
  14. Rest in peace, Larry. It was a pleasure to have known you. You fought a strong uphill battle and now you are in a better place overlooking us all. Thoughts and prayers to the Batchie, Gallagher, and Elmsford FD familes.
  15. Thoughts and prayers. What a tragedy, especially during training. Read more: http://news.yahoo.com/2-fbi-agents-killed-training-accident-va-204452164.html
  16. Service update: http://new.mta.info/new-haven-line-service-changes-are-place-while-we-work-around-clock-rebuild-damaged-tracks Kudos to all the MN employees working hard to get things back up and running again.
  17. Best wishes for a speedy recovery to all those injured. This is another "this can't happen here" type of events that we drill for yet rarely see. Especially with two brand new M-8 trains. I'm going to be interested to see if it's the tracks, trains, or operators that are at fault. When I ride the train and another MN train passes at a high speed with only inches to spare, I always wondered how there aren't more collisions. Gonna be an expensive, international incident for Metro North.
