Guess they didn't like the Caprice's....yet. But right now an agency like this with CHP as well not ordering the Caprice's it sets a precedent for all LE agencies in Southern CA. I'm looking for a roomate. I don't want to move out of my apartment, I love it, and I want to stay in Westchester. I live in Mohegan, in a very secluded and quiet apartment, on the Yorktown side by Mohegan Lake.. It's very spacious and large,. Includes a private deck and plenty of closet space and parking. If you're interested, Lake Mohegan FD is right down the road. Close to the Taconic and shopping centers on Route 6 and Route 202. $750/month rent, due on the first on every month. All utilities are paid for, except for cable and internet which will be split. If you are interested, email me at sethgranville@gmail.com . If you are serious, you can come look over to look later this week. Must have steady job and income, and be a good neighbor to the other tenants. Males and females welcome. And if you know of anyone who is interest, please pass this along. Thanks! Seth

You may want to look at demos. With all the trade shows going on, a lot of manufacturers offer discounted prices on stock and demo ambulances. Also, have you considered remounting the module onto a new chassis? IMO, that's the most cost efficient route, especially if you like the current box that you work in. Another consideration is buying an ambulance from a VAC that has low mileage and responded to very few calls. Some manufacturers also let you tack on to large city contracts as great savings as possible.

So, I've been driving through some fire districts over the past few months, and I've been noticed 1/2 to 1/4 filled LDH hose beds. Some of these departments have areas where they need to relay pump, especially up hills, and others have had water issues and have potential water issues. So why skimp on hose? Great hydrant system? What about in a disaster or water distribution problems? Incident on a major highway? One apparatus can't be expected to carry all the LDH for logistical reasons. Other then "that's too much to pack and test", why not fill a bed with LDH? I was thinking weight issues, since some of the departments have floor problems, but still. I was in a volunteer department that carried a lot of LDH, but we had areas of our district and mutual aid districts where it was absolutely needed despite hydrants. Heck, departments used to special call us for it. It was a great insurance policy. Maybe I'm just out of the modern loop, and there really isn't a need for LDH in an urban hydranted district. Here's an example. (Blurred to protect department's identity). I'm not trying to pick on anyone, but just curious, and need to use a visual example:

Wow. It's outrageous that the NY Post is lumping "Buffs" with "Badge Bangers". Especially in the same group as this EDP. Then again, what else can we expect from the NY Post, sensationalism on the front covers, and supermarket tabloid reporting. This has got to be one of the worst articles I've ever read, and a real slam to the reputation of the "real" buffs and fireground photographers. They even blame the fire service TV shows and online buff groups and Facebook pages. Read more (NY Post Full Article: http://www.nypost.com/p/news/local/badge_bunny_gone_rabid_VbP9j1kPIN0lmDvD2RXgRJ

I just watched my first episode of "Alaska State Troopers", and I'm addicted. What an awesome job! They go on some pretty cool and unique calls, some pretty routine, but it's fascinating how diverse the areas they patrol are and how the culture is very different. They use cars, airplanes, helicopters, snowmobiles, boats, even dogsled to patrol very diverse terrain. Many times, backup is hours away. One thing I thought was really cool is that in a few pursuits I saw on the show, they always made sure the Dodge Charger HEMI car was the lead car, and passed the Crown Vics and Expeditions to get there. It would also be cool to work in such a beautiful environment! I hope to go to Alaska one day. You can catch this show on Nat Geo, Cablevision Channel 162. http://channel.nationalgeographic.com/channel/alaska-state-troopers/
