Could EMTBravo bring the Kensico Dam muster back to life? I'd really like to bring the muster back, but I would need some help in bringing it to life. I would like to aim for September. And I would need people to post on this thread that would be interested in attending this event. I'm thinking of the following: -Antique and modern fire apparatus display -Draft and pump antique pumpers -Marketplace where vendors could sell firematic related items -Chili Cookoff to benefit the burn center at WMC -Concert -Smokehouse and fire prevention activites for the kids -Ambulances and Police vehicles welcomed to display -Firematic competion events Any fees collected could cover whatever costs incurred in running the event, including the liabilty insurance and whatever other costs associated with this. I'd also need several people to help with organizing this event and making it happen. And, of course, to run the event. If you are interested, PM me.

We have narrowed it down to Saturday, October 4th 2014 as the target date for the muster. Does anyone know of any event or anything else that may conflict with this date? (Location is still being finalized)

Adam-12 is one of my favorite shows. It was very much like "Emergency", but for the LAPD. Same creators, similar time period. Very realistic and authentic. It airs weekday afternoons on "Me-TV" at 4:30PM, then followed by "Emergency" at 5PM. (Cablevision/Broadcast Channel 15) I just watched this powerful, awesome, heartbreaking episode for the first time yesterday. Although it is over 40 years old, the words spoken, most especially at the end of the episode, haven't changed one bit. What do you think? Was this knowledge presented to the call taker but not relayed to the field units? Are NYPD/FDNY call takers trained Emergency Medical Dispatchers (For those that aren't familiar with it, it's a professional certification that is becoming the standard in most dispatch centers nowadays. It follows a computer or card based protocol to allow call takers with no medical training (EMD Training is 40 hours though), to collect the most important information sequentially to get the right response to the right person in the right amount of time, and to prioritize calls. It also allows call takers to give Pre-Arrival instructions, such as CPR instructions over the phone.) Also, is any of this because FDNY*EMS is shorthanded? If so, when will they be hiring again? Used to be an ongoing open exam, now doesn't seem like they are giving any tests.

Just wanted to remind all out there with news media around the country the PD's are prepared, that WCPD is also prepared 24/7 countywide for disorder control responses all the time. They are most specifically aimed at county government facilities and property and the towns it primarily patrols, but are available mutual aid. Patrol has riot gear in their trunks and ESU carries more riot gear, non-lethal devices and some more tools. Most importantly, they also have the training. In addition, WCPD maintains a trailer full of gear needed and has prisoner vans available for a disorder control response.

I absolutely agree. I just like to highlight police resources available in the County every now and then. With all that's going on in the media, this seemed like a fit time.

Prototype firefighter tracking system. Seems to be pretty neat, but with the size of that box, I don't see it becoming a reality if it is that big. I'm figuring when they release it, that it will be much smaller. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GfQHTUIPR2Q

Purchase FD Quad 8 (retired from active duty) 1957 Seagrave Quad Quad=Pump, Tank, Hose, Ground Ladders One of my favorite antiques, and she shines like they just delivered it.

An interesting one to hold the FD accountable like this. Are firefighters expected to have knowledge of locomotive operations? And I thought, well, at least in the US, the train's conductor or engineer can provide info on how to fight the fire, and often it's put out by them and no big deal.
