  1. Poking around in the EMTBravo Attic, I found these two photo sets from Noroton Heights FD in Noroton Heights, CT (just east of Stamford). Noroton Heights can be referred to as the "Mack Mecca", and the photos do a great job of explaining why. Be sure to read the text. Noroton Heights Fleet: http://www.emtbravo.com/NorotonHeights/index.html And, also be sure to check out the (then) new Rescue Engine 23, which was a former FDNY BOT Engine: http://www.emtbravo.com/NorotonHeights/NorotonBOT.html Hope you guys enjoy this "From The EMTBravo Attic" rerun.
  2. I just caught this show On-Demand, and I must say, it's promising. Laughs the first episode, hope to see that trend continue.

  7. Although LIRR will be getting them first, Metro North will be getting them down there line (2017-ish). The Metro North M-9A's will be similar to the M-7A's. Also very good news for the City Of Yonkers. http://www.lohud.com/article/20130917/NEWS/309170045/Kawasaki-Yonkers-build-new-commuter-rail-cars?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|Frontpage|s
  8. From the Town Of Greenburgh Email List: Congrats to Capt. McNerney, and thank you for your many years of dedication to GPD Chief Decarlo! Best wishes for a great retirement!
  9. Congrats to Deputy Chief J.T. Nichols on being appointed and sworn in yesterday as the youngest Deputy Chief in White Plains FD history! Deputy Chief Nichols, who is 34 years old, joined the department in 2001. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2007. Lieutenant David Baylock, a 20 year WPFD veteran, was promoted to replace Nichols.
  10. Glad to see you back, Steve! Thanks for sharing your awesome work with us!
  11. Empress does not get a dime from the city for the EMS contract. Some of the decon equipment was grant funded, but most of the initiative and equipment came from Empress funds. Empress also pays for the training and administration of the program completely on their own. Yonkers has numerous potential incidents where the SOD division could be deployed, in many different fashions.
  12. I just was monitoring my scanner, and heard a pretty bad report being given to a hospital, and the nurse sounded annoyed...and had reason to be, as the vague report left a lot of questions that would determine what happens when the patient arrives at the hospital. And this wasn't the first time. Is this something that is still taught in EMT class? Does anyone have any key points which should be hit on when giving your radio report to the hospital? We all know the ER staff doesn't always have time to listen to a complete report, nor do we always have time to give on. What are some formats or key points that have worked for you in trauma and medical cases that you'd be willing to share?
  13. What perplexes me is do you need a sponsor hospital to get reciprocity?

  18. Yonkers Engine 306, a 1992 Mack CF, the actual last one to be produced by Mack, has returned to Yonkers after a spa treatment, and it's looking good! It currently holds the designation Engine 298, and is a reserve piece. For those Mack fans keeping track, it is chasis # CF688FC 1460. Delivered August 1992 from Mack's Allentown, PA plant. Photo by me, taken this morning. A very special thanks to ALL those on duty at YFD Station 8.
  19. Typical Fire District Commissioner "untouchable" politics. And there are a lot of people afraid for their jobs to stand up to them. Sounds very much like what happened to me. The days of 207A are over. It's a horrible fight to be in the middle of and I wish Firefighter Maldari the best of luck. Hang in there.
