You're being WAY too dramatic about this issue. And the political comments are completely irrelevant and off base. Police Departments have way more important things to worry about then the color of their lights. Lights don't save lives and with LED's being so efficient and versatile, color really doesn't matter as much anymore. And modern day society really doesn't care about lights, most motorists don't even yield anymore during response and on scene. If you're so concerned about this issue, there are other forums on the internet to specifically discuss emergency vehicle lighting. Please check them out to discuss this further.

Had a little fun photographing what the members who are signing up to take the upcoming NYSP Trooper exam will be driving should they be good enough to make it through the process. Even if you are not sure you want the job right now, there's not going to be another test for another few years. Who knows what you will be doing four or five years from today? Maybe want a stable, rewarding career at a progressive major law enforcement organization to support you and your family. SO AT LEAST SIGN UP TO TAKE THE TEST! http://www.nytrooper.gov Special thanks to Major Kopy, Sgt. Bridges, and all the troopers and civilians that I met who helped me out and had kind words about this site. It is truly appreciated It was also awesome to see the facility, meet some new faces, and see some of the cool new cars. Here they are. Keep in mind all the cars are just delivered and are in various stages of being outfitted, and are not complete. Shown are a 2013 Dodge Charger PP, 2013 Chevrolet Tahoe PPV, 2013 Chevrolet Caprice PPV, and a 2013 Ford Taurus Police Interceptor.

Congrats to Deputy Chief Walter "Packy" Murray on his retirement. He served 32 years with Fairview FD. Best wishes!

You're concerned, but you care less? I am confused. I'm not trying to pick an argument, and for purposes of this particular issue the 2% monies are irelevant, I just thought you were trying to make a point that they are still active routinely in assisting citizens of White Plains in their designated role and had more information on that to counter what others are saying?

Federal Government pays. It will equal out in other areas, such as the enormous waste of money patchwork programs out there nowadays, and the hospitals going bankrupt because of those without healthcare and abusing the system. And not everyone who is "not working" is taking advantage, and their are many middle class Americans who can't get healthcare either. With better healthcare and standards to hold doctors to, we'd have a lot more people that would be healthy enough to work, and jobs for those who need work. You can't put a dollar sign on a human life. The hairs need to stop being split. Who cares whether you are a volunteer firefighter or volunteer at a homeless shelter. That should really be irrelevant. And, you know you have a problem when Mexico has better healthcare!
-
You are obviously concerned. And if they're getting any sort of public funding, or have any official government relationship, they should.
-
We just did. You told us. And if they really did and they're worried that people don't know they are still out there, then they really need someone to do better proactive public relations.

If everyone had equal healthcare (single payer), then that would be moot. Shouldn't matter if you're rich or poor, or in between. Everybody should have the same ability to access the same healthcare regardless of financial status, and let the for-profit insurance system that drives this debate find another way to make money.
-
Maybe someone could realize that some people lives depend on health insurance and thousands can't get the health care they desperately need because they can't get health insurance and can't afford it, or go into bankruptcy doing so. Everyone having single payer health insurance is the only equal, ethical and humane option. That's the only solution to this discussion.

It's been a crappy year for Metro North, especially commuters on the New Haven line! It's now said this power outage that's causing service suspensions between Stamford and GCT could take 2-3 weeks to repair fully. IMHO, Metro North should buy some "reserve" diesel locomotive and coaches for situations like this, even if they are used or reconditioned.

I just don't see why, in the case of LGA and JFK, they just don't let FDNY handle it. In many other major cities, such as Los Angeles and Miami, the local jurisdiction handles things both landside and airside. This would probably be the simplest thing to do, and FDNY could handle the additional responsibility IMO. I think it will be some time before we see any tests open, yet alone hiring and academy. There's even more then I want to imagine that needs to get done, and I would imagine the Port Authority may even be contesting or seeking to redefine the ruling.

Quality and completeness is always worth a few days wait-especially with that truck being as custom and unique as it is! I'm getting excited to see the finished product! Did you get any new shots of the interior console? Love the yellow powder coating that place in Poughkeepsie did.....makes them very visible on scene.

It's on tonight on Fox (Channel 5 NYC Metro) at 20:30hrs for anyone who wishes to check out the second episode....

Chicago Fire Season 2 premieres tonight at 10PM! It got very, very good towards the end of last season, almost comparable to Third Watch, and am excited to see what this season brings. Also excited for the spinoff "Chicago Police" later this season.

This topic was about the WCVFA Parade, and not to hijack to debate the merits of a parade. Since the parade is over and it's been a couple of days now, I'm closing the thread as it has served it's purpose.
