Here are a ton of photos from the expo floor at FDIC taken by adelaidefire https://www.flickr.com/photos/pobox448/albums/72157683256976726/page2

I just came across this video which could be applicable to this situation. and others similar to this. Using the deck gun offensively to get control of the fire could darken down the fire quickly to make it more manageable with handlines. https://vimeo.com/205474139

Fascinating. https://www.citylab.com/design/2017/05/the-sublime-subterranean-cisterns-of-san-francisco/524853/?utm_source=fbb

You hit the nail on the head right there, I couldn't' agree more. I really like the uncluttered and neat pump panel. If my eyes aren't mistaken, is that a sight gauge on the pump panel.? I know numerous departments in Southern California still use them, I just noticed them last time I was out there. I thought it was a traditional thing. Pretty neat. How does it work?

Looks great! Thanks for sharing the photos!

I've heard a now confirmed rumor that Greenville Fire District (Town Of Greenburgh AKA Edgemont AKA having a postal address as "Scarsdale, yes the one on Central Ave) finally is looking to replace the current Ladder 4, a 2001 Pierce 75'/1750/400 rear mount quint. They were looking at a 100' Smeal rearmount straightstick quint, and were seen "test driving" both the truck and aerial through the district. A "Protection From The Past" note, Greenville used to have a Mack CF/Aerialscope in the firecapt32 days.

I definitely see applications for a tool like this.

Is that a guy carrying a can at 0:46 into the most recent video posted above?

They got him because of some awesome detective work. Glad his family will have justice, although never closure. Earlier this week, I had the chance to go to Los Angeles. I'll be sharing some of the photos on this thread over the next couple of days. For those who haven't seen it, my photos of LA City FD's Heavy Rescue 56 can be found here. First up is Los Angeles County FD, they had this 2017 KME Tractor sitting at the shops, awaiting mating with a USAR Trailer.

I love the color scheme!

Pierce has added a 110' single axle rearmount tower ladder to the Ascendant line of aerials. MORE INFO: http://www.piercemfg.com/products/products-overview/ascendant-class-of-aerials

Definitely interesting, especially with the tandem axle on the Ford F550. Never seen something like that before. MORE INFORMATION: http://skeeterbrushtrucks.com/6x6-firewalker/ MORE INFORMATION: http://skeeterbrushtrucks.com/6x6-firewalker/

Does New Rochelle, Mamaroneck, Larchmont, or Rye even have a fireboat?

Very interesting truck. Definitely a game changer. I just noticed, amongst many other things, that the waterway nozzle is behind/underneath the bucket. I guess it wouldn't be able to do storefront deluge. I also wonder what the prices are for this truck are. It must be up there.

Zoning and development, and property tax assessments are two of the main factors driving this issue. For example, the town recently reassessed all the properties in the town for the first time in 60 years, resulting in a significant spike in property taxes for Edgemont residents. They believe they fund more then their share of the town budget, yet have less say in what goes on in Edgemont. There are also concerns about several apartment complexes being planned and are concerned about renters in the community. The cost and delivery of services currently provided by the Town Of Greenburgh are also an issue, as they believe they would be better served at a lower cost by establishing their own departments. They do think the town and other municipalities are obligated to provide services to them for free or at a significantly reduced cost, or in the same manner as the other villages.

I've been meaning to post about this for a while. Had it written, just had to hit submit. For those that aren't aware, there is something to watch in Greenburgh. Edgemont, the unincorporated section of town that Edgemont School District and Greenville Fire District covers, is trying to incorporate as Greenburgh's 7th village. There's actually a strong chance it may happen. A large part of the residential taxpayer base is wealthy, and are not so much worried about the taxes as they are with the control over what goes on in their section of the town, such as developments. Edgemont makes up 25% or more of the Greenburgh tax base, and is definitely the wealthiest section of town, with numerous million dollar homes. The population is roughly 8,000 in a dense 2.5 square mile district with a large commercial district (the ."Scarsdale" portion of Central Ave), along with large single family residential dwellings, apartment buildings, schools, and the Sprain Brook Parkway. From the public safety viewpoint.....If Edgemont becomes a village, they need to create a police department or contract with one. What could this mean for Greenburgh PD and their funding? As Greenburgh PD also provides EMS, Edgemont would also have to find an EMS provider. From the firematic end, that portion of town is covered entirely by Greenville Fire District. If Edgemont becomes a village, fire protection falls under the Village Manager, so it would become a fire department under the village. What could happen to Greenville Fire District? They may be able to contract with Greenburgh and Greenville, but those who are leading this movement are so bitter about the Town that contracting with Greenburgh based services may not be an option.

Ferrara got their aerials from Smeal, which was recently acquired by Spartan ERV. Now that they are part of the REV Group, I wonder if KME or E-One will produce the aerials for them. Also, through KME and Ferrara, the REV Group now has the contract for FDNY Engines and Rearmount Trucks. It's also interesting to note, KME and Ferrara have been the #1 and #2 bidder on several FDNY apparatus contracts over the past couple of years.
