Timothy W. Kensing Obituary 1960 - 2015 Kensing, Timothy W. Tim died peacefully on Wednesday at Westchester Medical Center surrounded by his family, after a short illness. He leaves his father and mother, "Rub" and Eileen Kensing, his brother Mike, long time college friend Maureen McCullough, and his beloved dachshunds, Gracie and Mickie. Also surviving are his uncle Henry V Kensing and (Eileen), and his aunt Anne M. Kensing. He also leaves behind numerous cousins far and wide who will cherish wonderful memories. His grandparents Mary and Bill Lee, Sue and Howard G. Kensing, and "Aunt Ginny" Lee, all predeceased them. He also leaves behind an army of his beloved volunteer firefighers who have stood by him during his life and especially during his late struggle to live. Tim was born in Mt. Kisco, July 5, 1960 and lived there all his life. He graduated Fox Lane High School in June, 1978, and SUNY at Oneonta May, 1982. During his high school and college years, he worked at the old "Friendly's", making many close friends who now mourn his passing. He had a twenty-six year career with I.B.M. For twenty-eight years, Tim was a member of the Independent Fire company of Mt. Kisco, where he served as captain, and a two year past president. There will be a wake at Oelker-Cox & Sinatra Funeral Home, 262 E Main Street, Mt. Kisco, NY. on Friday, December 11th from 4:00-8:00pm. A funeral mass will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 11:00am on Saturday December 12th. followed by a graveside committal service. I was one of the long time members of the Golden's Bridge Fire Department who left due to the conditions within the department and the Fire District Board of Commissioners. The culture there was ridden with cronyism among other activities that were not within the letter of the law. I personally left after vandalization of my personal vehicle, chronic tampering with my fire personal protective equipment and finally an overt threat on May 10. 2010. The then chief Walter Hughes filed a report with the fire district stating that he suspected up to eight individuals were suspected of the gear tampering and continued harassment. The fire district never performed interviews nor provided an investigation report. When I inquired about the report being shared with me, I was told by Board of Commissioners Chairman Ed Brancati that I was not entitled to a report and was told he could "tell me whatever the hell he wanted". We hired lawyers and filed an Article 78 with Westchester county regarding the actions of the leadership of the fire department. The article was never reviewed for reasons unknown even thought the court is legally bound to review within a set period of time. There is, to this day, a very bad cancer in this department and fire district. The approach of "handling this within house" is not correcting the actions or making the community safer. The district should be required to submit a public report on the activities related to the issues documents in my blog www.gbfdx2144.blogspot.com. The district now should also file a public report regarding the issues experienced on the fire scene of 37 Fairmount Drive on January 11, 2014. There was a very dangerous situation that evening where many people could have been injured or worse yet killed due to the poor choices made by the leadership of the Golden's Bridge Fire Department and Fire District Board of Commissioners. The structure fire response that evening was at the end of their annual Chief's holiday party attended by members of the department and likely the Board of Fire Commissioners. Fire Department apparatus and personnel responded to a fire scene when they clearly should not have. The public who are funding the equipment these individuals are charged with managing have the right to know how this environment is being managed. The public also needs to understand the management of budgetary items and retirement funding.

I had a similar experience with the Golden's Bridge Fire Department. People who wanted to protect their 'interests' forced me out via threats, gear tampering, vandalism to my personal property. R.I.P. Brother

Having gone through my own personal hell, I feel for this brother firefighter. When the powers that be have an agenda, you as an individual are fighting a very steep uphill battle. I still suffer the effects of my experience and the people responsible are still in charge. It is just all around sad. I was only one of 3 individuals pushed away at the time (including an FDNY instructor), but many other walked away as well.

Sadly John Gagliardi went to his grave not wanting to be associated with the current Golden's Bridge Fire Dept. He was a chief multiple times, commissioner and 50 year member. It's a disgrace to put it mildly. He deserved better.

Or firefighters that want the ability to vote on Chiefs as firefighters in one room and 15 feet away vote again as Commissioners to put their buddies in as Chiefs. They can give their buddies/relatives new SUVs, gas, etc... instead of investing in replacing 40+ year old pumpers. Compliance to NFPA standards is optional.

He was retired from Petro Oil Co. in Norwalk, Conn. He is survived by his children Wendy Voelker and her husband, Ron, of Patterson and Candy Torlish and her husband, Duane, of Brewster; grandchildren Mike, Erica, Tori and Alex; brothers Joseph and Nick; sister Nancy Gagliardi; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy, on Jan. 19, 2008, and Rosemary Mazza and Gus Gagliardi. Calling hours will be Sunday, Dec. 4 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Clark Associates Funeral Home at 4 Woods Bridge Road in Katonah. The funeral will be held at the funeral home on Monday, Dec. 5 at 11. Burial will follow at South Salem Cemetery.

I think you forgot the built in old boys network that ensures no shows and buddies get these benefits. How about buying a new SUV for a buddy while the second due engine in your district (sometimes first due when the primary is OOS) is 40+ Years Old. Hypothetically of course. We should trust people with the town's tax monies, they know what is best.

Joe was in my high school class. He was a super friendly guy. RIP Joe.
