  1. Hopefully it was an exterior operation only - No FAST
  2. Based on the fact that it says it is a 1975 engine I am fairly certain it is the old engine 120 that Croton gave the fire academy when we got the current engine 120.
  3. My old job, I started putting striping on the cars while I was still on the job with help from now Sgt. Barirde.
  4. You are correct!
  5. As has been said several times already, Kevin was an all around great guy. I was fortunate enough to count hi amongst my friends. He will be truly missed by all. My sincerest sympathies to the Peekskill Fire Department and to Kevin's family.
  6. I have had the pleasure of working alongside with Sam on many occassions both as a polce officer and the fire department, he was always a consumate professional. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the OVAC family. Stay strong, get well and have a speedy and full recovery.
  7. After reading the article I have to ask what kind of drugs did this FIRE CHIEF carry?
  8. Our 62 MACK was actually copied from a long island rig and yes it had seats, 4 cushioned seats that opened up to pack hose. When we were writing specs for our 84 MACK we could not call them seats we had to call them doors, if they were "seats" we would have had tohave seat belts. We actually had a door installed on the rear of the walkway to make use of the space under the walkway.
  9. We had 2 of our engines with the walkway, it had advantages and disadvantages and the main disadvantage was like posted elsewhere, it was tough on the back packing hose especially as you get on in years. I for 1 am glad we don't have those rigs anymore for that reason only, but I sure do miss those 2 MACKS (1962 & 1984).
  10. Congrats Pat, glad to hear mom and baby are doing well.
  11. Yes the Ward is a nice rig, I think I know the guy that owns it now.
  12. Yap- is the 1 to the right of the Mack also a Mack or is it another Ward?
  13. I had many mentors through the years, too many to mention individually. Therefore I will just lump them together in a group I shall call all the senior firefirghters in my department and some of my neighboring departments. Now that I am a "senior member" I sincerely hope that I am having an influence on some of our younger members and setting a good example for them!
  14. Croton on Hudson FD Today Oct. 6th 1300 to 1700 Station #3 (Harmon Firehouse)
  15. It was originally red and beautiful. Verplanck, Buchanan, Montrose and Croton all had similar Engines.
  16. A 1963 mack with a Gerstenslager body. It was refurbed in 2 projects in the mid 80's. Repower with a detroit diesel/allsion automatic tranny done by Excelsior. Body was refurbed by Amthors.
  17. Dinosaur I agree with you and that's what I meant AFTER the initial size up from a mobil radio.
  18. I believe a 360 size up (when possible) should be done on all calls except of course EMS.
  19. Just wondering how in the heck did this get so far off topic????????????
  20. I hope you were talking about the ladder truck KJ
  21. KJ8806 When we replaced with our current TL in 2002 the village donated it to the Upper Jay FD, I have no idea if it is still in service.
  22. 16fire5 yes that was a major failure, it was dec 4th 1971 the rig got delivered earlier that year, was operating at a 3 story apt building when it failed. There was 1 firefighter on the stick who rode the ladder down, luckily it twisted away from the fire instead of just falling straight into the fire otherwise we would have had an LODD. Of course being that Croton is suck a thriving metropolis rumors abounded that the FF died. For several months we had the only 25' stick. Cause went back and forth between the mfr and the village with no blame found on either parties part.
  23. In my opinion NO! There is also no need to have a ladder and tower ladder designation either, a Good Chief will know what resources they have available to them from their mutual aid departments. This is of course MY OERSONAL OPINION.
  24. Ed I was at the bethea drive fire as a Deputy Chief, I was actually the chauffer on 119.
  25. I remember this rig very well and the jeep with the trailer also.
