Regarding the comment on ground ladders, our team will use ground ladders fromt he host department and try to ladder all 4 sides of the building if possible. Also members are to conduct a 360 of the bldg andd try to get a head count as to how many ff's are in the bldg and on what floor. In addition to the NYS training I mentioned in my original post we also trained extensively with the Mohegan FAST under the direction of George & Ray. I believe that Moheagn and us were 2 of the 1st teams in northern westchester.

You are probably right Cap, it most likely was you.

Our team responds with an engine and has been equipped over the years as money allows with the standard engine equipment plus truck equipment, all the standard irons and we carry 3 saws, a TIC and a gas meter. In addition we caryy ropes & webbing and aan scba for the downed FF. Thankfully all our calls have been successful and by that I mean we have yet to go to work as a FAST to get a brother. We have numerous times been put to work at a scene but not working as a fast. We do request when asjed to go to work (Non-FAST) that another team be called and if manpower allows maintain a core team until the additional team arrives. Most of our original members were trained by Captain Benz!

This was told to me years ago an may be wrong that is why I posted it looking for more feedback.

This isn't just another black eye for Sleepy Hollow it is a black eye for all of us in emergency services.

Just something to think about if you have a TIC with a transmitter, I was told long ago when I purchased our 1st TIC that television stations (if on scene) could find the frequency used by the transmitter and broadcast live what your camera is seeing. I had originally purchased the camera with the transmitter and TV/vcr for training purposes so we could see what we are doing and how we could improve. If someone knows more about the capabilities of the news people stealing the signal please share it with all of us.

Tommy - You make great sense here but liek you mentioned it is for our customers and not about us so the problem I see from my point of view is EGO's.

Tommy Good points on the front suction and using more then one inlet. Many years ago I was taught how to use the 6" and 3" (actually when Ilearned it was a 5" and a 2.5". The sercet to that operations sucess is to get your draft goint in the larger line, then slowly open the smaller suction. At the Ocotober instructor conference we got a handout regarding the front suction on someone rig and thanks to all the bends in the piping it equated to somewhere near 100' of pipe. So like ALs said you will not get the max from the front suction.

well said John & Adam! When this issue came p we as a department decided that we needed some firehouse work and some new apparatus, so we put the LOSAP on th eback burner. After the construction of a new firehouse, the rehab and addition to another and the purchase of the 2 apparatus that needed replacement one of our 5 companies (whom I refer to as a social club) came to our council (governing body) and started their quest for the program. The wya it was sold to the village was the least expensive way, everyone started at year 1 regardless of how many years you had which ticked off alot of our senior people. We have tried several methods to recruit people and we got a couple some good some not. I firmly believe that if someone wants to get involved (if they have the time) they will come to us. Most of our best people came that way. So as far as I'm concerned if it came to a vote to drop it I would definetly vote YES! LIke my esteemd colleague from Putnam Valley said, Pride is my paycheck.

Chris in answer to your question I don't see a change in our department except for people that we never used to see (except when free food was involved) coming out now for their points. As a member and a taxpayer I voted against it twice, once on the department level and then at the village elections. I wasn't promised anything when I joined and I don't expect anything when I leave. What I have gotten thus far is alot of new friends in other departments and a warm fuzzy feeling inside when we do a good job on a call.

Welcome home Chief, you have been missed. Thank you for serving our great country and most importantly coming home safe. I'm sure I will see you soon.

Congratulations, she is beautiful. Hope mom and daughter are doing fine. whata wonderful New Year's Present!

Chief, first off it looks like you had an extremely busy night, congrats to you and your people for working 3 jobs on such a wonderful night. I have a quick question for you regarding your incidnet alert - you made reference to the #1 side of the bldg, I thought NIMS required the use of letters.
-
Chief - Congratulations ond good luck with your retirement, I hope your last shift is uneventful for you. It was a pleasure meeting you at the fire academy back in early may and having dinner with you.
-
Congrats Guys I wish you the best and look forward to working with you.

If you look quickly at the 4th from last pic (rear shot) you might mistake it for a police vehicle with the blue lights.
-
you did pretty good with Nikitopoulos. Anyway congrats to Richie on his retirement, and to Johnny B on his well deserved and long overdue stripes. 2 of my former colleagues.

Congats on the promotions and the retirements, especially my cousin Charlie!

All of you current civil service type people, I was always under the belief that they may be able to demote you but they could not cut your salary, is this correct. And cutting the SAFETY Battalion, you have to be kidding me, I guess this is another one of those cases where it may look good on paper but it isn't the brightest thing in the world. This is a bad situation considering YOnkers has very strong unions and they are the largest career dept. in the county it doesn't bode well for the other career jobs, I wish all the brothers getting laid off nothing but the best and hopefully if it happens it won't last long and you get you jobs back. I sincerely hope this is just the mayor using scare tactics to the residents of Yonkers and does not become a reality.

PCFD the last I knew of it, some small dept in Indiana bought it form a middle man to put in service as their front line engine. The middleman paid $1501.00 for it, I know this cause I sdelivered his check to the village office. Had I known it would have gone for so little I would have bought it and drove it every day.
-
I am not greedy I will share it woth you, no problem at all. I will even share with 50 other people.
-
okay all the boys & girls at station 2, we all miss the 84 and some of us miss the 62, the one I grew up on had the honor of driving it form 1973 till she left us then I got to drive the 84 from day 1 to the last day. And I am sure some of the guys that are older then me miss the previous, but we all must move on. By the way I am sure some of you guys are still mad at me for being the one who got the village board to replace it, and it would be great if we as a company could get it back but if we did where would you guys wash your cars, the bay would be full. Oh yeah after I hit the mega tonight I will buy back the 62 and the 84 and if you guys are nice to me I might let you come & see them.

The foundation is a wonderful group of people and with such a relatively small staff they accomplish alot. They depend on volunteers to make the Memorial Weekend work. Those volunteers are returning survivors, family members of LODD's over the years. My wife and I have been part of that group for 10 years now and we have made many, many great friends that we only see for that 1 weekend a year. Anyone that can find the time should attend the weekend at least once, you will be amazed.

Fex- You just took the words right out of my fingers, Having a driver get the rig there without firefighters is not the answer paid or vollie, unless of course that driver was to empty the booster tank via the deluge gun.
