My first post on this topic was simple... is this a serious question? I then asked the topic starter if he was just trying to stir the pot which he had no problem admitting to. It has gone from lights, to incentives back and forth and in the end it has no positive information. In my opinion you volunteer if you want to do it. If a career firefighter doesn't understand why we do it then feel free to sign up and maybe you will understand.

You should have asked that someone if they are serious but thank you for your honesty about the original intention of the question

i have a question with this plan. if a ff. in greenburgh that has 5 years makes $85k a yr. and a ff in mt vernon that also has 5 years makes $50k a year how are they gonna even that out? note: i didnt read the plan just heard about it so if the answer is in there i appologize in advance.

hey smoke why does this bother you so much? why is it even any of your business? like many have said... go to a board meeting and ask questions. maybe the mayor or trustees in his district told him its A OK to take the chiefs car to work. i dont know why your looking for answers here. maybe next time you pass the chiefs car you could ask him? or is that to tough?

we had a similar situation in elmsford a few weeks ago. a verizon fios tech drilled through an interior wall into the con ed meter on the exterior wall catching the siding on fire. it was knocked down quickly and the verizon tech was fine with the exception of probably his underwear.

chief fitz maybe noone is answering you because they are not sure of the answer's. like i said earlier i saw a phone number and email address available for questions. you have tried to get your questions answered this way and its obviously not getting you anywhere so maybe try to go to the source.

my question is why do so many people have a problem with these guys volunteering their time training and willing to help people? they put in the effort to obviously train to state standards. kudos to these guys. besides their jobs and home life they find the time to help people. consolidating has been brought up alot here and now you have multiple towns/ villages responding as one and its STILL a problem?

sorry for the delay. it holds numerous hand tools, speedy dry, booms etc. also chain saws, spare bottles, extinguishers, hand lights, cribbing. we have a boat for water emergencies that attatches to the roof. its in service but still waiting on other equiptment such as pumps.

No damage to to the hotel and not sure what the cause was.

they tore down the restaurant part of the hotel. the debris from that caught fire. the restaurant shared 2 common walls with the hotel. it was a quick knockdown with no extension to the hotel. no injuries. i believe only a fairview engine stood by in elmsford fire hq.
