Gpeifer im a dpw worker. If someone came to MY job and offered to do it for free yes it would upset me, but if there were municipalities that have always used volunteers to do my job it doesn't affect me at all. I volunteer in a 100% volunteer fire dept. We have never had any career positions so therefore nobody's job is being taken away.

No 911 call right away. The homeowner tried the garden hose method first. Thank God for nosey neighbors

I think this may help people working in municipal jobs like dpw. If the supervisor is anti volunteer there can't be any punishment for responding on a call before or during work

He's acting professional

At the plate, health care reform. On deck, immigration reform. No telling where thi is heading but can't be good for us average Joe's. I know Obama said illegal immigrants would not be covered under his health care bill but its odd to me the next task is immigration reform and rights. Maybe if they vote against the volunteer incentive bill the country will be OK.

Unfair? How about welfare? I make to much money to apply but barley enough to support my family.I can't afford a house or child care yet my tax dollars go to assisting people with no jobs and lots of kids. Atleast this bill is going to something positive and not to people that survive off of the working class.

When I joined basic and intermediate didn't include f.a.s.t You had to take ff. Survival then f.a.s.t. if you haven't taken those courses then you don't go on fast calls. In career academy I'm sure its part of the training and maybe even included in ff 1 or 2

BNechis I know in a few a depts. Including mine if you haven't gone through fast training you don't go to a fast call.

Simmer down big Guy. I'm not trying to step on your toes or anyone else's. If someone contacted wcdes then great, but if nobody on emtbravo has the correct answers then I would expect no answers.

Perhaps asking questions on emtbravo.com is not where your going to receive answers. Perhaps DEMANDING answers is not the right way to ask. Perhaps asking questions then ripping the team apart verbally is a reason they haven't received answers P.s This is my opinion I have zero affiliation with this team.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't the county tech team consolidation? Instead of every town and village trying to form their own they created this team. From what I'm getting from this site, this is what everyone wants and now its no good?

You mention we have learned a few times in your post but who is we? Do you mean volunteers are learning why we volunteer? I agree that the volunteer fire service has it's issues, and on this site they are talked about constantly but what about the positive? I'm sure there are a low percentage of volunteers that do this with the wrong intentions but the great majority of volunteers do this for ALL the right reasons
