THE 3RD TRUCK-I WORKED THERE WHEN THE 3RD TRUCK WAS IN SERVICE-YOU HAD A WORKING FIRE AND THE 3RD TRUCK SAT IN QUARTERS THIS WAY A BEEF WOULDN'T BE MADE ABOUT MUTUAL AID BEING BROUGHT INTO COVER.WHEN THE 3RD TRUCK DID MAKE IT TO THE FIRE SCENE IT WAS USUALLY BECAUSE DOO DOO HIT THE FAN AND THINGS WERE OUT OF CONTROL.EVEN WITH THE 3RD TRUCK IN SERVICE WHAT DID YOU HAVE AT THE FIRE PRIOR TO THE 3RD TRUCK,BASIC MATH HERE 5 ENGS= 10 MEN,2TRKS=6MEN,1RES=1MAN THEN 4OFFICERS + THE IC CHIEF,IF THERE WAS 4 MEN ON A TRK CO AND 4 ON AN ENG CO I CAN SEE THE 3RD TRK,WHEN THERE IS A FIRE OTHER THAN 1 ROOM GOING THE WHOLE SHIFT NEEDS TO BE THERE!!!DID YOU EVER PISS INTO THE WIND?

The notice is going out for the ARFF class @ the fire training center. It will be 3 nights/3 hours each night and then a class trip to the Westchester Co. airport for a walk around. The class announcement should be faxed to the fire houses possibly today. Have your Chief sign you up as soon as possible. This class has not been offered in years and I am hoping to get a good response. Hudson.

It appears that in the southern part of the county communications is still a great concern for many when you either go out on mutual aid or mutual aid comes in.From different depts being unable to communicate with each other to some rigs not even being equipted with county radios. We all know the importance that communications play both while responding as well as working on the fireground. Amazingly tonight on A&E they mentioned that the FD radios didn't operate in 1993 during the 1st attack on the WTC and that 8 years later the the breakdown in communications was still present. Back when pelham manor had the general alarm of fire in the 6 story OMD this topic was supposed to be addressed and rectified. well brothers, here we are-the VOID IS STILL THERE! You can be in the same building on fire and not have any communications to the outside, your only link might be your nextel! be Safe!!!!!!!

Again we face the fact that a major storm has ripped through the area and its the same old song "NO ETA ON CON ED/NYSEG. For years now the hudson valley has seen it share of storms regardless of what season it is. Spring,Summer,Fall & Winter we see it time and time again. Again the finger pointing is going on and again when the sun comes out and the winds lay down it appears that it is all forgotten. A few years back on Christmas day I lost power during the blizzard from 4pm (christmas) till 8am the next morning. I actually was out looking for a con ed truck to see what the scoop was. After driving for miles around the hamlet that I live in I located a trouble shooter for Con ED and he was very polite and apologized but he did also mention that he was the only one covering the whole northern westchester. Now that storm like many others that we have experienced in the past usually are predicted and I often wonder who drops the ball on the pre-plan part of the utility companys. The message was sent from that guy who was out freezing his ****s off that it is basically out of the hands of the guys who are in the trenches especially when it comes to manpower for these storms, kind of reminds us of the fire service doesn't it? anyway- where does it end? How many times does the FD strip their resources to babysit a live wire that probably won't be tended to for hours? To try to correct this abuse is just like ******* into the wind and why do I say that? because time and time again we go through the same thing.Where does the liabilty end as far us us as emergency responders go.If we vacate the area where a live wire may be and someone like the poor guy from mid county just happens to come in contact with the wire and gets killed where do we stand?( The FD had was not involved in that incident until later) Where does the fire service turn to hoping to make a stink to rectify this? Does it all fall on deaf ears? I would love to have the money that we all spend on a monthly basis to these companys,i certainly would increase the manpower on the engines that I work on from 2 firefighters to 3. ZING! anyway this could be a long forum so get to it!

a car wash will be held in the spring to raise $$$ to fix ladder #2. The TL TO STA #1 UNTIL THEY FIX TRUCK 2. THE OLD MACK TOWER MIGHT BE THE SPARE AND L-3 (E-ONE) WILL PROBABLY BE KEPT ALSO. A 3RD TRUCK IN SERVICE? I HOPE NOT-IF A 3RD GOES IN THAT WOULD MEAN THAT 3 LESS FIREFIGHTERS WOULD BE AT THE FIRE SCENE BECAUSE THEY WOULD REMAIN IN SERVICE TO KEEP THE MUTUAL AID OUT! "HISTORY REAPEATS ITSELF" WE NEED EVERYONE WE CAN GET WHEN THERE IS A FIRE,CAN'T AFFORD TO LEAVE RIGS BEHIND.

I guess that cops will be "frequent flyers"? (just kiiding).

CAM-this is my point for opening up this forum, this may be a landmark case in the future which may pave the way for the future,i know if it was my dog i would be pissed big time but just imagine if a person or a child went to assist the dog it could have been really tragic!

as of 1/24/06-class is full.look for another one in march!

today in the daily news firefighter jeff cool basically came out asking the fdny what are we waiting for another tragic incident like black sunday? this is in reference to the bail out ropes that are to be issued to all fdny members. Being a friend of Jeff I am asking the same question but to the Chief admin people in westchester. It appears that some depts act like this incident never took place and basically put up the traditional "smoke screen" that is utilized for many mishaps in the fire service that we all can learn from, it is to our benefit that we learn from others. For years many incidents have been the turning point in the fire service to make changes to help us all out. its unfortunate that we all don't learn from others. For those of you that have a rescue rope in your pocket I want to mention something that Jeff said to me while he was in Helen Hayes hospital and i quote,''anyone can carry a rope it something else to know how to use it". Be safe!
