  1. By Doyle MurphyTimes Herald-RecordPublished: 2:00 AM - 04/24/10 GOSHEN — A 33-year-old man began an ambulance ride in the care of volunteer EMTs, and ended it restrained by police. The Chester Volunteer Ambulance Corps was taking Jassaan Carrington of Endicott to the Arden Hill campus of Orange Regional Medical Center at about 12:25 a.m. Friday, after an unspecified incident at an On the Run gas station in Chester. The technicians told police that Carrington turned violent, biting the finger of one medic and leaving bruises and cuts on the other. They had to pull over on the side of Route 17 near Exit 125. Town of Goshen police said Carrington continued to fight, tearing up the interior of the ambulance and kicking out several windows. A 911 call brought police from multiple jurisdictions. Carrington was treated for an unidentified medical condition at the hospital, police said, and then charged with assault and criminal mischief, felonies. dmurphy@th-record.com

  3. any updates?? Starting to get a little worried.......
  4. Yeah thats the same response they gave me a few weeks ago when I called them. I'm going to keep calling them back every few weeks to check up on the status of the class, just in case they "misplaced" my contact info.
  5. Congrats Rob! See ya on the 6x12 in Chester.
  6. Speaking of which, does anyone know of any per diem places that are hiring in the city?? If so could you provide some links/info.....
  7. For the most part over here, 3 guys share a car. an A LINE, B LINE and C LINE. So that wouldn't really fly to well. The concept is pretty cool though. Kind of militaristic, like Lieutenant's in the Air Force have their names on the sides of their jets just below the cockpit window. I could see in a larger dept where each person is assaigned a car or takes home a car that this would be practical. However, theres always cases when the car has to be repaired or maintained and is OOS, which kind of screws up the whole name concept, but Im sure not all their units are marked with the name. Anyway, this is new york, nobody really cares who you are... all they care about is if they are getting the ticket or not. I can see in smaller towns where its a few guys and they know the locals by name, seeing the Sgt's name on the side of the car would be pretty cool.

Good luck to all those attending. Dispatching, sounds easy to most, but it takes alot of work. Often it is not as appreciated as it should be. Many officers commend us for what we do knowing if they were sitting the desk, they would be clueless. It is however a good job, I have a fun time at work and would recommend this career to anyone interested.

  10. You need to register through SUNY Orange and have an interview/phone conversation with the head of the program for acceptance as well as be 18 years of age by August and posess a NYS EMT Certification. This is the first class being held out of SUNY Orange. SUNY Rockland also holds the degree/certificate program, as well as Dutchess and Ulster. I have placed my application in and am waiting acceptance into the program. Will I be seeing anyone from on here at class??
