Certainly does sound like someone not using their brain at all. I was under the impression that Phelps had a hyperbaric chamber but maybe I was wrong? If anybody could let me know the answer to this I would greatly appreciate it, I haven't been to Phelps' ER before but I was told by a friend of mine that they did in fact have a hyperbaric chamber on site. Speedy recovery to all those involved and I hope no MOS were involved.

I thought the same thing and asked a buddy who works at Phelps. They do have a hyperbaric chamber but it isn't staffed 24x7 and the transfer to Jacobi was faster than calling the techs in from home on a Sunday night. Probably less expensive too.

That's right, the chamber is slated for just scheduled elective procedures at this time. Not off-hours emergent use. That is a possibility in the future however.

Phelps does not have 24/7 chamber staffing. Shame too. It is multiple victim sized and could have fit all 3. Kudos to WEMS for taking all 3 in separate buses no more than 5 minutes apart down to Jacobi.

Woooow, scary stuff, but not at all surprising. We had an incident in Buchanan several years ago in which an employee at an Industrial Complex was using a gas powered power washer INSIDE! It came in as a male not feeling well and the FD was dispatched as part of the EMS first response. The employee was found lying on the ground semi-conscious upon the arrival of the FD Chief and Paramedic. With the signs and symptoms, the Chief had the FD re-toned and special-called for gas meters. The readings were 1000PPM+ upon entering the structure. I believe the PT went ALS to the Med Center.

Speedy recovery to those affected.

I too was curious if any charges (endangerment, negligence, stupidity) could be filed in such a case?
